This paper aims to suggest a way for learners to enjoy poetry through the 'use of sense' based on a review of contemporary poetry education. As is well known, when it comes to the study of poetry, learners are accustomed to receiving education that requires an objective answer. As a result, poetry has devolved into something that is memorized, or at best, as something to be intellectually understood, rather than as something to be simply enjoyed. However, within the culture of university, this narrow approach to studying poetry must be enhanced so that learners may not only understand poems, but enjoy them as well. 'Expanding the senses through involuntary memory' suggested an educational plan for the enjoyment of poetry through the experience of converting realistic senses into true senses through involuntary memory. As a realistic sense is converted into a sense of truth through another similar experience, learners can find it in their own lives. Thus, when the reader re-reads a poem, he or she can accept the sensations of the poem as their own truth. This educational method may prove meaningful to students in that it may allow them to experience the sense of poetry in their own lives through the act of experiencing involuntary memories. This process demonstrated that the learners themselves became convinced of the meaning of the poem that they held within their own minds. In 'Clearing Concepts through Senses', we presented an educational plan with the aim of teaching that the senses can erase objects rather than reproduce them, and that these sensations promote thinking by raising questions about shaped beings Unlike the orthodox poetry educational method, which reinterprets the senses expressed in poetry as such, an educational method that focuses on the use of the senses with the premise that they have no meaning from the beginning presented itself as an opportunity for learners to enjoy a freer imagination and a greater thinking capacity. Learners can discover poetry in their daily lives by discovering a sense of being that is more alien to their normal experience. The learner who has gone through these stages focuses on the potential of being, and the sensitivity of creation when he or she re-reads the poem. Therefore, the poem, which was difficult when read mainly for meaning, is enjoyed outside of meaning and becomes a place of free imagination.

본고는 대학 교양으로서의 현대시 교육에 대한 검토를 바탕으로 ‘감각 활용’을 통해 학습자가 시를 향유할 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 주지하다시피 학습자는 시에서도 객관화된 답을 요구하는 주입식 교육에 익숙해져 있다. 그 결과 시는 향유하는 대상이 아닌 암기하거나 이해하는 대상으로 전락해 버렸다. 대학 교양에서는 이러한 폐해를 불식시키고 학습자가 시를 향유하는 방법을 모색해야 한다. ‘비자발적인 기억을 통한 감각 확장하기’에서는 비자발적인 기억을 통해 사실적인 감각이 진실의 감각으로 전환되는 체험을 통해 시를 향유하는 교육 방안을 제시하였다. 사실적인 감각이 다른 유사한 경험을 통해 진실의 감각으로 전환되면서 학습자는 자신의 삶에서도 시적인 경험을 할 수 있게 된다. 따라서 학습자는 시를 재독할 때 시에 나타난 감각을 자신만의 진실로서 받아들일 수 있는 것이다. 이러한 과정을 통해 필자는 학습자 스스로가 자신이 사유한 의미에 대한 확신을 갖게 된다는 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. ‘감각을 통한 개념 지우기’에서는 감각이 대상을 재현하는 것이 아니라 대상을 지워낼 수 있으며 이러한 감각은 형상화된 존재에 대한 문제를 제기함으로써 사유를 촉진시킨다는 것을 학습하는 교육 방안을 제시하였다. 지금까지 시에 나타난 감각을 의미로 재해석하는 시 교육법과는 달리 애초부터 의미가 없다는 전제를 갖고 감각의 활용에만 집중하는 교육 방안은 학습자에게 자유로운 상상력과 사유력을 가질 수 있는 기회가 되었다. 학습자는 자신의 삶에서도 개념에서 벗어난 존재의 감각을 발견함으로써 충분히 일상에서도 시를 발견할 수 있는 경험을 가질 수 있다. 이러한 단계를 거친 학습자는 시를 재독했을 때 의미에 집중하는 것이 아닌 존재의 잠재성과 생성에 대한 감성을 중시하게 된다. 따라서 의미를 중심으로 읽었을 때 어려웠던 시가 의미 밖에서 향유됨으로써 자유로운 상상의 장이 되는 것이다.
