The customized training in vocational colleges has been regarded as a effective pathway for school-to-work transition of students in vocational colleges. However, actual performances of the customized training were not proven sufficiently. Being based upon this situation, this paper aimed at analyzing what performances the customized training have brought about in industrial firms which employed graduates who had joined the customized training programs in vocational colleges. A questionnaire survey was carried out to analyze performances. It included two hundreds of industrial firms in sixteen provincial areas. Variables included in the survey were those ones which could prove the
performances of education by the customized training programs, such as job competencies, employment ratio, productivity. The main method adopted for data analysis was the comparison of performances of education between those employees who joined the customized training programs in vocational colleges and their counterparts who didn't joined the programs.
According to the major findings of the study, industrial firms showed higher positive responses on job competencies, employment ratio, productivity, decrease of education cost of the employees who joined the customized training programs in vocational colleges than their counterparts. Also, large-sized industrial firms and large city-located industrial firms recognized higher performances of the customized training than small to midium -sized ones and small city-located ones. This finding showed the relevant relationship between performances of the customized training and
the size and regional location of the industrial firms. High recognition of industrial firms on performances of the customized training suggests that the expansion of the customized training programs based on strong school-industry cooperation is needed. Besides, results of the study suggest that the Government is needed to take greater initiatives in supporting the customized training programs. These initiatives need to be focused on to support vocational colleges in acquiring the facility and equipment needed for practical training, to provide information on industrial
trends, shift in work responsibilities and employment opportunities, and to assist in selecting the appropriate OJT provider, and monitoring of training activities in the field.

이 글은 전문대학에서 주문식 교육 이수자들을 채용한 경험이 있는 기업을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시함으로써 주문식교육이 기업에 어떠한 성과를 주었는가를 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 설문조사를 위해 전국 16개 지역을 대상으로 주문식교육 이수자의 채용 경험이 있는 200개의 기업을 선정하였으며, 기업의 설문조사 협조 및 회수율 제고를 위해 주문식교육에 참여하고 있는 대학 관계자의 도움을 얻어 우편조사 방식으로 조사를 실시하였다. 주문식교육의 성과를 분석하기 위하여 졸업생의 직무수행능력, 취업여부, 생산성 및 비용절감 등 교육의 성과를 파악할 수 있는 하위 요인을 중심으로 주문식교육 이수자와 비이수자의 교육의 성과를 비교하는 방식으로 설문 문항을 구성하였다. 조사 결과, 기업은 직무수행능력, 취업여부, 생산성 및 비용 절감 등 모든 항목에 걸쳐 주문식교육 이수자의 성과가 비이수자에 비해 높게 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 대기업이 중소기업에 비해, 특별시 및 광역시 소재 기업이 중소도시 및 읍면지역 소재 기업에 비해 주문식교육 이수자의 성과를 더 높게 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 이같이 기업 측면에서 주문식교육의 성과를 높게 인식하고 있는 점은 산학협력 강화 차원에서 향후 주문식교육의 확대 필요성을 제기시켜 주며, 중소기업과 중소도시 및 읍면지역 소재 기업의 주문식교육에 대한 정부 차원의 추가적 행.재정 지원책이 마련되어져야 함을 시사한다.
