The purpose of this study is to review the problems of current elementary school (survival) swimming education and to find a way to improve them. To do this, the problem was diagnosed from the experts, teachers, parents, and students' perspectives, and the solutions were found. The discussion and conclusions based on the findings are as follows. First, it is necessary to disseminate the standard program for elementary school (survival) swimming education and to continue the training to ensure the professionalism of swimming instructors. Second, it is necessary to continuously expand and build various infrastructures for (survival) swimming education. Third, the program discussion with the instructor for swimming education, work division and performance, and swimming education in connection with the curriculum should be resolved through the guidelines through the standard manual and the active support administration of the DOE. Fourth, the grievances of teachers in the management of (survival) swimming education should be resolved through securing and operating various educational support personnel. Fifth, it is necessary to change the parent‘s misperception of the (survival) swimming education or the excessive competition of private education through the education authority's education on parents' awareness and education on the essential understanding of the education program. Sixth, students' perception of swimming training and short swimming class should be improved through various methods for normalizing (survival) swimming education proposed in this study.

본 연구는 현행 초등학교 (생존)수영교육의 문제점을 되돌아보고 이를 개선하기 위한 방안을 찾는 데 있다. 이를 위하 여 수영전문가, 교사, 학부모, 학생 관점에서 문제를 진단하고 그 해결책을 찾아보았다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 한 논 의 및 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등학교 (생존)수영교육을 위한 표준 프로그램의 보급과 수영 강사들의 전문성을 담보하기 위한 지속적 연수 및 제도의 개선이 필요하다. 둘째, (생존)수영교육을 위한 다양한 인프라를 지속적으로 확 대·구축할 필요가 있다. 셋째, 교육과정과 연계한 수영교육이나 업무 분장 및 수행, 수영교육을 위한 강사와의 프로그 램 협의는 표준 매뉴얼을 통한 지침과 교육청의 적극적 지원 행정으로 해결되어야 한다. 넷째, (생존)수영교육의 운영 에서 겪는 교사들의 고충은 다양한 교육지원 인력들의 확보와 운영을 통해 해결해야 한다. 다섯째, (생존)수영교육에 대한 학부모들의 잘못된 인식이나 지나친 사교육의 경쟁은 교육당국의 학부모 인식 전환 교육과 교육프로그램에 대한 본질적 이해 교육을 통해 바꿀 필요가 있다. 여섯째, 학생들이 인식하고 있는 영법 중심의 수영교육과 짧은 수영수업 시간은 본 연구에서 제안되었던 (생존)수영교육 정상화를 위한 다양한 방법들을 통해 개선되어야 한다.
