In this study, we present the result of reviewing process of 105 research papers, which are related with the topics on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), published in the Korean journal of International Business Review (KIBR) during the last 16 years from 1997 to 2012. The Master list of keywords from Journal of International Business (JIBS) and the seven questions from Root(1978) were applied to build the classification criteria to judge the relatedness of each paper with FDI. For more systematic and effective analyses, we performed 3-way methodological approaches; ‘descriptive analysis’ which was focusing on the collective distribution and morphologic characteristics, ‘content analysis’ which was focusing on the detailed theme and topic, and ‘remarkable others’ which introduced various minor streams of FDI related research.

본 연구는 우리나라의 해외직접투자(FDI) 관련 연구의 흐름을 종합적으로 판단하고 현재의 위치를 살펴보며, 향후의 연구 방향과 시사점을 찾기 위한 문헌연구로서 (사)한국국제경영관리학회의 공식학술지인 「국제경영리뷰」에 1997년부터 2012년까지 게재된 해외직접투자 관련 전체연구 105편을 대상으로 포괄적이고 체계적인 분석을 시도하였다. 본 연구에서는 해외 직접투자 관련 연구로서의 선정기준을 수립하기 위해 JIBS의 ‘핵심어 예시표’와 Root(1978)의 7가지 질문이 활용되었으며, 대상논문들의 집단적 분포와 형태적 특징에 집중하는 ‘서술적 분석’과, 각각의 세부주제로 나누어 내용적 특징에 집중하는 ‘주제별 분석’, 그리고 관련연구의 흐름이 특징적으로 나타나지는 않지만 주목할 만한 일부 연구결과들에 대해 ‘기타 특수 주제 분석’을 실시하여 문헌분석의 체계성과 효과성을 높이고자 하였다.
