The current study draws on General Strain Theory(GST) to explore the relationships between strains and cyber delinquent behaviors. Using data from 254 middle and high school students in Daejeon Metropolitan city and 274 delinquent youths under probation, the current tudy attempt to examine GST and applies the theory to two groups(delinquent youths vs. non-delinquent youths). Four types of strain previously shown most likely to result in cyberbullying, including delinquency in the youth, were measured. This study used a Propensity Score Matching(PSM) for identifying crucial factors that are associated with cyber delinquent behaviors. In particular, in order to examine why strains engage in cyber delinquency directly, this study utilized some covariance including self control, morality, depression, anxiety, loneliness, age, family income, hours spent on the internet. The results confirm that parental strain has a significant positive effects on cyber delinquency among non-delinquent youths while career strain was positively associated with cyber delinquent behaviors among youths under probation. Overall the findings support for some of the basic tenets of GST. Theoretical implications and future research directions are discussed.

이 연구의 목적은 일반긴장이론(General Strain Theory)에 근거하여 긴장이 사이버 비행에 어떠한 영항을 미치는지 실증적으로 검증하는데 있다. 이를 위해 중·고등학교 254명과 현재 보호관찰 중인 청소년 274명을 대상으로 비교분석을 진행하였으며, 긴장 은 선행연구를 토대로 연구 실정에 맞게 수정 보완하여 4가지 유형으로 분류하였다. 통 계분석은 사이버비행과 관련 있는 주요 요인의 영향을 탐색하기 위해 경향점수매칭 (Propensity Score Matching: PSM)을 활용하였으며, 이에 따라 공변량으로 사용된 요 인들은 자기통제력, 도덕성, 우울, 불안, 외로움, 연령, 가족경제수준, 인터넷사용시간이 다. 분석결과에 따르면 (1) 일반청소년의 경우 높은 수준의 부모긴장이 사이버비행에 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 이는 매칭 전과 후 같은 결과를 보였다. (2) 비행청소년은 매칭 전 모든 긴장유형과 유의하지 않았던 결과와 달리 매칭 후 진로긴 장이 사이버비행과 통계적으로 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과에 따라 이번 연 구는 일반긴장이론의 조건적 논의의 일부를 지지하는 것을 확인하였으며, 마지막으로 연구의 의의와 제언을 제시하였다.
