Theater subject was included in the 2015 revised National Curriculum as a general elective subject. Theater subject expanded opportunities for students to learn through theater. The process of experiencing and creating plays allows learners to develop creative capabilities, and learners are able to have balanced thinking and insight through theater appreciation. Although appreciation takes on an important role in expanding the inner thinking of learners and gives them a chance to enjoy art, there is very little appreciation education that suggests to learners how to appreciate theater. This study analyzes The General Theory of High School Theater Textbook and Cheonjae Textbook. Based on the standard points of appreciation education and the results of the analysis, the study shows the essential condition of appreciation education that can guide the appreciation unit in theater subjects to an advanced direction. The following conditions should be provided for appreciation education. First, it should be provided with an environment where learners’ interest and desire for theaters can be embraced. Second, education on the aesthetic distance should be provided. Third, the connection of the 'form' and 'meaning' of the play should be educated so that the learners can appreciate theater from their own perspectives. This study presents a clear standard point of appreciation education for learners to appreciate plays and suggests the direction of development of appreciation unit in the theater subject. This study is one of the criteria for appreciation education that can be the basis of appreciation education. Therefore, research for appreciation education should be continued. This study will provide researchers an opportunity for active discussion on appreciation education.

연극은 2015 개정 교육과정에 보통교과의 일반선택 과목으로 개설되어 학습자들에게 연극을 통한 배움 의 기회를 확대하였다. 연극 교과는 학습자들이 직접 체험하고 만들어가는 과정을 통해 창의적 인재로 서의 역량을 함양할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 연극 감상을 통해 균형 잡힌 사고와 통찰을 할 수 있도록 돕는 다. 연극 교과에 포함된 ‘감상’ 영역은 학습자들의 내적 사고를 확장하고 예술을 향유하며 삶을 누리는 기회를 열어주는 중요한 역할을 하는 통로이다. 그러나 학습자들에게 어떻게 감상을 해야 하는지 제시 하는 ‘감상 교육’에 대한 연구는 희박하다. 본고는 연극 감상 교육의 필요성을 인지하고 연극 감상 교육 의 틀을 삼을 수 있는 기준을 연구한 후 이를 토대로 연극 교과 과정 총론과 천재교과서의 감상 단원 영 역을 분석하였다. 본고는 감상 교육의 조건 연구와 총론 및 교과서의 분석 결과를 토대로 감상 단원을 발전적인 방향으로 안내할 수 있는 필수적인 감상 교육의 조건을 마련하였다. 감상 교육의 조건은 다음 과 같다. 첫째, 공연에 대한 관심과 욕구가 학습자들에게 일어날 수 있는 환경을 마련해야 한다. 둘째, 학 습자들에게 미적 거리에 대한 교육을 제공해야 한다. 셋째, 연극의 형식과 의미의 연결성을 이해할 수 있는 감상 교육이 구성되어야 한다. 본 연구는 학습자들의 연극 감상을 위한 감상 교육의 기준을 제시하 고, 총론과 교과서를 분석하여 감상 단원의 발전 방향을 제언하는데 의의가 있다. 그러나 이는 감상 교육 방향의 토대가 될 수 있는 기준점 중 한 예이므로 앞으로 지속적인 감상 교육 연구가 더해져야한다. 본고 를 계기로 앞으로 학습자들을 위한 감상 교육에 대한 논의가 활발히 지속되기를 기대한다.
