The modern is focusing on a sustainable life. The purpose of this study is to analyze the concept and case of zero waste fashion which is one of the sustainable fashion design methods to solve environmental pollution, to examine its characteristics and to present the new method. The zero-waist fashion design is classified into a pattern cutting method and a non cutting method according to whether the pattern is cut and rearranged. The pattern cutting method is subdivided into puzzle cutting, modular cutting, and minimal cutting, and non cutting method is subdivided into subtraction cutting, a-poc, and material. There are many ways to reduce the fabric abandonment rate by pattern composition, which is not easy for non-experts to understand and experience. Tangram Cutting, which is a design method that allows intuitive comprehension by combining sculpture and paper folding techniques, has been developed. The research method is collecting and analyzing the zero waste fashion design and tangram related books, theses, forums, and internet materials. Based on above, we developed the zero waste fashion design method and by combining it with the folding method we made a total of 8 design. If you know only human form, you can arrange the pieces, design a zero waste fashion yourself, and take advantage of the familiar tangram method, so you can use it as an educational program for eco-friendly fashion design. The pattern can be constructed and designed using 1/5 scaled pattern paper, which reduces waste of pattern paper as well as fabric. Further research is needed on how to use a variety of materials and reduce fabric utilization for popular and efficient zero waste fashion design.

현대는 지속가능한 삶을 화두로 하며 패션 산업도 환경오염을 해결하기 위해 다방면에서 노력하고 있다. 본 연구는 환경오염을 해결하기 위한 지속가능한 패션디자인의 방법 중 하나인 제로 웨이스트 패션에 대한 개념과 사례를 분석하여 그 특성을 고찰하고, 새로운 방법의 디자인을 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 제로 웨이 스트 패션디자인은 패턴을 커팅하여 재배열하는 유무에 따라 패턴 커팅 방식과 논 커팅 방식으로 분류하고 패턴 커팅 방식은 퍼즐 커팅, 모듈 커팅, 미니멀 커팅으로 논 커팅 방식은 서브트렉션 커팅, 에이폭, 소재에 의한 방식으로 세분화할 수 있다. 그중 패턴 커팅에 의해 원단 폐기율을 줄이는 방법이 다수인데 이는 디자이 너의 수준 높은 역량에 의지하므로 비전문가가 이해하고 경험하기에 쉽지 않다. 이에 칠교놀이와 종이접기 방식을 접목시켜 조각 배열을 보며 직관적인 이해가 가능한 디자인 방법인 Tangram Cutting을 개발하고 총 8점의 디자인을 제작하였다. 연구 방법은 제로 웨이스트 패션디자인과 칠교놀이 관련 서적과 학위 논문, 학 술지 논문, 포럼, 인터넷 자료를 수집하여 분석하고 이를 토대로 칠교놀이 방법과 종이접기 방법을 접목하여 제로 웨이스트 패션디자인 방법을 연구하였다. 인체 형태만 알면 종이접기를 통해 추출한 조각을 배열하여 디자인이 가능하므로 제로 웨이스트 패션을 직접 디자인하고 제작하는 능동적인 경험이 가능하고, 친숙한 칠교놀이 방법을 차용했기 때문에 친환경 패션디자인을 위한 교육 프로그램으로 활용할 수 있다. 1/5 축소 패턴지를 사용하여 패턴을 구성하고 디자인할 수 있어서 원단뿐만 아니라 패턴지의 낭비도 줄일 수 있다. 대중적이며 효율적인 제로 웨이스트 패션디자인을 위해 다양한 소재를 사용하고 원단 사용률을 감소시킬 수 있는 방법에 대한 후속 연구가 필요하다.
