This study is designed to examine the practical problems of survival swimming education and suggest development measures for it by examining the awareness of female teachers in elementary school about survival swimming education. The research method was conducted by selecting participants (Quality Study Participants: 4 female teacher) of elementary school teachers based in G-area as a population using the convenient sampling method. First of all, primary school teachers were very positive about the preparation and operation of the regular curriculum for surviving swimming education. Second, both positive and negative perceptions were recognized about the educational value of survival swimming education. In particular, it was recognized that the educational limitations were clear in the current school situation. Third, the results of the recognition inspection of the living swimming education class environment indicated the absence and lack of swimming pool facilities as a serious situation. Fourth, after examining the perception of the educational limit, the government recognized the failure of the national-level curriculum at the survival swimming education site as the most urgent problem to be solved. Finally, the recognition inspection results on future tasks and development methods suggested the need for regular education and training to improve the quality and teaching skills of instructors specializing in education for survival swimming.

본 연구는 초등학교 생존수영 교육에 대한 초등학교 여교사들의 인식실태에 대해 알아봄으로써 생존수영 교육의 현실적 문제점을 점검하고 이에 대한 발전방안을 제시하려는 것이다. 연구 방법은 G 광역시에 소재한 초등학교 교사들을 모집단으로, 편의표본추출법을 활용하여 연구 참여자(질적 연구 참여자 : 4명-여교사)를 선정하여 진행하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 초등 여교사들은 생존수영 교육의 정규 교육 과정 편성 및 운영에 대해 매우 긍정적으로 인식하고 있었다. 둘째, 생존수영 교육의 교육적 가치에 대해 긍정적, 부정적 인식을 함께 인식하고 있었다. 특히, 현재 학교 상황 속에서는 교육적 한계가 명확하다고 인식하였다. 셋째, 생존수영 교육 수업환경에 대한 인식실태 점검 결과 수영장 시설의 부재 및 부족을 심각한 상황으로 지적하였다. 넷째, 교육적 한계에 대한 인식실태를 점검한 결과 생존수영 교육 현장의 국가수 준 교육과정 불이행을 가장 시급하게 해결해야 할 문제로 인식하고 있었다. 마지막으로 향후 과제 및 발전 방안에 대한 인식 점검 결과 교육환경 개선과 확충, 생존수영 교육 전문 강사들의 자질 및 교수 능력 향상을 위한 정규적인 교육과 연수의 필요성을 제안하였다.
