The purpose of this study was to analyze the trends of research in multicultural mentoring in Korea using text mining techniques. The research subjects were the abstract text for 206 academic research papers related to multicultural mentoring, written from 2007 to 2019 in Korea. The topic modeling analysis was performed using program R. The results showed that multicultural mentoring studies were categorized into four subjects: multicultural support program, understanding korean culture, awareness of mentoring experience, and social issues. Multicultural support programs accounted consistently high for the entire period, while the mentoring experience study was on the rise with the ministry of education, science and technology's expansion of the multicultural mentoring program. In addition, as a result of analyzing the time-phased research topics by dividing the period into three periods from 2007 to 2019, the study found that the topics changed from marriage immigrants to children and adolescents of multicultural families and that the research on experiences in multicultural mentoring increased. Based on these results, this paper discussed the necessity of the various topics of multicultural mentoring research such as international students and foreign workers. Also, in order to overcome the limitation of text mining, qualitative research analysis should be conducted. This study is meaningful in that it identifies the achievements of the multicultural mentoring research that have been conducted so far, confirms the present, and gives implications for future research.

본 연구는 텍스트 마이닝 기법을 통하여 국내 다문화 멘토링 연구 동향을 파악하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구 대상은 2007년부터 2019년까지 국내에서 발행된 다문화 멘토링 관련 학술지 논문과 학위논문 206편의 초록과 인용 정보이며 프로그램 R을 활용하여 토픽 모델링 분석을 실행하였다. 그 결과 다문화 멘토링 연구는 ‘다문화 지원 프로그램’, ‘한국 문화 이해’, ‘멘토링 경험’, ‘다문화사회 이슈’라는 네 가지 주제로 범주화되었다. ‘다문화 지원 프로그램’은 전 기간 꾸준히 높은 비율을 차지하고 있으며, ‘멘토링 경험 인식’ 연구는 교과부의 다문화·탈북 학생 멘토링의 확대와 함께 증가하고 있는 추세이다. 또한, 2007년부터 2019년을 세 시기로 나누어 시기별 연구 주제를 분석한 결과, 연구 대상이 결혼이민자에서 다문화가정 아동과 청소년으로 변화하였고, 다문화 멘토링 경험 연구가 증가함을 밝혔다. 이 결과를 바탕으로 유학생이나 외국인 노동자 등 다문화 연구의 다양한 대상에 대한 다문화 멘토링 연구의 필요성과 텍스트 마이닝의 한계를 극복하기 위하여 질적 연구 분석이 동시에 이루어져야 한다는 시사점을 도출하였다. 본 연구는 그간 이루어진 다문화 멘토링 연구의 성과를 파악하고 현재를 확인하며 향후 연구에 시사점을 주었다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
