This paper purpose to disclose a meaning and a possibility in the works of art which artificial intelligence produced in the Fourth Industrial Revolution periods. In the history of art, the evolution of media artists have used by means of their artistic expressions, have been with the development of technologies. Today, the range of the media in art is expanding to that of the artificial intelligence. I also agree that the artificial intelligence in art is a media of art. I will take up the concept of the ‘simulacre’ Deleuze defined and apply it to the works of art in the 4th Industrial Revolution Ages. And I want to examine the Next Rembrandt Project in 2016 and show that a work of art A.I. made is a work of art in new generation, a new creative work. Therefore, I should say that A.I. play a decisive role in art production in 4th Industrial Revolution Ages.

본 논문은 4차 산업혁명 시대에 있어 인공지능 미술작품의 의미와 가능성을 밝히는 것을 목적으로 한다. 미술의 역사에 있어 작가의 표현수단으로 활용되는 매체의 진화는 기술의 발전과 늘 함께 해왔고, 오늘날의 매체는 인공지능으로까지 확대되어 오고 있다. 이에 연구자는 인공지능을 확장된 매체의 하나 로 보고자 하며, 이 일련의 과정이 갖는 의미를 들뢰즈의 ‘시뮬라크르’ 개념을 통해서 살피고자 한다. 그 사례로 실재 렘브란트의 작품인 듯 착각을 불러일으킬 정도의 창작물을 만들어낸, 인공지능 미술 프로젝트 <넥스트 렘브란트>에 대해서 연구해 보고자 한다. 이 작업은 인공지능 시대의 미술작품이 이전의 작품들과는 달리 더 이상 어떤 위계질서로부터 억압받지 않고 있으며, 새로운 하나의 작품 그 자체로서 존재하고 있는 것임을 밝혀내는 과정이 될 것이다. 그리고 이는 확장된 매체로서 인공지능이 4차 산업혁명 시대의 작품 창작에서 중요한 역할을 해낼 수 있을 것이라는 점을 다루고자 하는 것이다.
