Today, the competition inmost businesses should be understood in global context. Inmanufacturing industries, multinational corporations have built global production and distribution system and recently, global value chains are developed in many cases. This paper intends to investigate the possibility of developing global value chain in flower industry. The competitiveness of agriculture should also be analyzed in global viewpoint. In this paper, global production and distribution of lily is summarized. Netherlands is the largest producer and exporter in global flower industry and in Korea, farmers import the lily bulb from Netherlands and export a small portion of their production. Da Lat in Vietnam has very good conditions for flower production. Because it is located in 2,500-meter altitude, the temperature is between 10 and 25 degree in celsius during all year and flowers can be produced three times a year. The labor cost ismuch cheaper than in Korea. The technology level in flower production and distribution is quite low. The possibility of producing flowers production in Da Lat and based on it, building global value chain in flower industry is analyzed in this paper.

현대에는 대부분의 산업이 글로벌한 차원에서 경쟁을 하고, 운영이 되고 있다. 제조업의 경우 유수의 다국적기업들을 중심으로 해외생산 및 유통이 자연스럽게 이루어진지 이미 오래되었으며, 최근에는 기업경영의 가치사슬이 글로벌하게 형성되어 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 화훼 산업을 중심으로 농업에서도 향후 글로벌한 산업경영과 함께, 글로벌 가치사슬의 형성이 필요할 것을 보여주고 있다. 본 논문에서 예로 들고 있 는 백합(Lily)의 경우, 네덜란드가 전 세계의 생산과 판매의 많은 부분을 차지하고 있으며, 국내의 생산자들은 대부분의 백합구근을 네덜란드에 서 수입하여 생산하고 있고, 수출은 일본에만 소량 진행되고 있다. 베트남의 달랏지역은 고산지대로 연중 가을 날씨가 지속되고 화훼생산지로 최적의 조건을 가지고 있다. 현재 베트남 화훼소비의 대부분을 담당하고 있으며, 외국으로의 수출은 베트남 농가의 기술적 부족으로 인하여 별 로 이루어지지 않으며, 일부 해외기업들이 들어와 수출을 하고 있다. 베트남의 달랏지역을 중심으로 한국 생산자들의 화훼산업에서의 글로벌 가 치사슬을 형성하고, 그를 바탕으로 경쟁력 개선 가능성을 검토하였다.
