This study examines what kind of discourse has been constructed by the Japanese in popular culture in Korean society since liberation. In this study, discussions were provided from the standpoint of enhancing the nationalism of the country through the Japanese hitter in the field of popular culture. In particular, this problem is regarded as a dominant ideology of nationalism in Korea's popular culture. In other words, it is hypothesized that cultural power in the field of popular culture works, and this process reproduces the ruling ideology. This situation, however, coincides with changes in the era of globalization in the 1990s, and as the opening of Japanese popular culture proceeds, a new form of discourse is established. Additionally, a Korean Wave in Japan began with the 2003 drama “Winter Sonata,” and this situation opens up a new form of discourse about Japan as the other established in the existing popular culture. In other words, it was noted that this era of change is not only a discourse about the reproduction of the ruling ideology in the field of popular culture, but also a deconstructive discourse of de-national and de-ideological centering around the detainee.

본고는 해방이후 한국사회의 대중문화영역에서 일본이라고 하는 타자가 어떠 한 담론을 구축해 왔는지를 고찰한 것이다. 본고에서는 대중문화영역에서 일본이라고 하는 타자를 통해 자국에 대한 내셔널리즘을 고양된다는 입장에서 논의를 전개하였다. 특히 이러한 문제의식은 한국의 대중문화영역에서 발생하는 내셔널리즘이 지배이데올로기를 구축하는 것이라고 간주하였다. 즉 대중문화영역에서의 문화권력이 작동하고, 이러한 과정은 지배이데올로기를 재생산해 나간다는 가설이다. 그런데 이러한 상황은 1990년대 세계화라고 하는 시대적 변화와 맞물려 일 본대중문화에 대한 개방이 진행되면서 새로운 형태의 담론이 구축되어 나간다. 또한, 2003년 드라마 ‘겨울연가’를 시작으로 일본의 한류 현상이 발생하고, 이러 한 상황은 기존의 대중문화영역에서 구축된 타자로서의 일본에 대한 담론이 새로 운 형태로 전개된다. 즉, 이러한 시대적 변화는 대중문화영역에서 단순히 지배이데올로기의 재생산 에 관한 담론뿐만 아니라, 수용자를 중심으로 탈국가적이며, 탈이데올로기적인 저항적인 담론 구축이 발생할 수도 있다는 점에 주목하였고 이에 관해 고찰하였다.
