Preservation and utilization of traditional cultural heritage is an important key to evaluating the success of local autonomy along with the revitalization of local culture and art. However, tourism contents based on the Chosun Telecom in Korea are extremely poor. In addition, the old roads, which the Joseon envoys used to walk on, have been damaged mostly due to road construction and land development, and the traces of them have been disappearing. Now that the records related to the Joseon Mission have been registered as UNESCO Memory of the World and their status has been recognized worldwide, the government should seek ways to discover the historical and cultural values of the Joseon Telecoms and develop them into tourism contents by linking them together with a single line. The main office considered historical and cultural contents related to the Joseon Mission in Gyeongju, focusing mainly on those contained in the Haenghaengchongjae records. Although the Gyeongju area was a major gambling section of the Joseon Mission, it has a wide range of tourist contents, including national treasures and treasures, which makes it relatively slow to find contents related to the Joseon Mission compared to other regions. Gyeongju is the place where the company stayed for two or four days out of a total of 12 Joseon Mission during the late Joseon Dynasty, and various storytelling is possible. Meanwhile, there are a number of places related to the Joseon Mission, including the tomb of General Kim Yu-shin, Donggyeonggwan, and Bonghwangdae. Utilizing these resources, Gyeongju could be reborn as a tourist destination with the history of the Joseon Mission, in addition to its image as a cultural heritage tourist destination representing the country.

전통문화유산의 보존과 활용은 지방문화예술의 활성화와 함께 지방자치의 성공을 평가하는 중요한 관건이다. 그러나 국내에서 조선통신사를 소재로 한 관광콘텐츠는 극히 미비한 실정이다. 또한 조선통신사들이 걸었던 옛길도 도로건설과 국토개발 등으로 지금은 대부분 훼손되었고 그 흔적마저 소멸되어 가고 있는 상태이다. 조선통신사 관련기록물들이 유네스코기록유산으로 등재되고 그 위상이 세계적으로 인정된 만큼 조선통신사가 지닌 역사적이고 문화적인 가치를 발굴하여 그것들을 하나의 선으로 연결하여 관광콘텐츠로 개발하는 방안을 모색하여야 할 것이다. 본고에서는 이러한 조선통신사 기록물 중 주로 해행총재에 수록된 것들을 중심으로 하여 경주 지역의 조선통신사 관련 역사문화콘텐츠를 고찰하였다. 경주 지역은 조선통신사의 주요 사행구간이었음에도 불구하고 많은 국보와 보물 등 다양한 관광콘테츠를 보유하고 있는 탓에 다른 지역과 비교해 비교적 조선통신사 관련 콘텐츠 발굴에 더딘 감이 있다. 경주는 조선 후기 총 12번의 조선통신사 사행 중에서 이틀이나 나흘간 사행단이 머문 곳으로 다양한 스토리텔링이 가능하다. 한편 김유신장군의 묘, 동경관, 봉황대 등의 조선통신사 관련 장소콘텐츠가 산재하여 있다. 이러한 자원들을 활용한다면 경주는 기존의 국내를 대표하는 문화유산관광지라는 이미지에 더해 조선통신사의 역사가 가미된 관광지로 거듭날 수 있을 것이다.
