영어

In 2017, the world's first commercial daily print newspaper was discovered. This newspaper Jo-Bo(朝報) was originally published in 1577. This study is aimed at attending to the value of the printed report, especially to examine distribution method and subject of the printed report Jo-Bo(朝報), the merits of the media, and the meaning of the history of the media culture. This paper sees those who have produced and distributed print newspaper(朝報) for their livelihood as retired government official in Seoul(京主人) and commercial official Gi-In(其人) who had excellent proficiency in commerce and transportation. At the time, they used the postal networks and system for the distribution of printed newspapers, and newspaper readers obtained and read the report by a similar channel to the purchase of books. This paper examines two of the tangible and intangible factors that the printing press could have produced at the end of the 16th century. The tangible factors include, firstly, the development of typography, and secondly, the development of regular and systematic messengers and postal networks. Intangible factors include, first, the degree of social operation of the consciousness to convey knowledge of events with information value to others, and second, the existence of a society, which is important for the nobleman, to secure periodic information. In addition, the reason why the civilian printing press is superior to the manuscriptal press can be seen through the contrast between the two. Unlike the manuscriptal press, the printing press is difficult to change the contents, thus ensuring accuracy and publicity, and the readability, suggestiveness, and periodicity are strong enough to attract subscribers' satisfaction. In addition, mass production can inform more news readers. In terms of media and cultural history, the printing newspaper Jo-Bo(朝報) is a medium that allows great knowledge and information sharing to the Joseon society. The necessity of issuing printing press continued to be raised among intellectuals in later years. A few years ago miraculously found printing press Jo-bo is currently limited to nine sheets of paper, making it difficult to fully understand the reality of printing newspapers. In order for Printing newspaper Jo-Bo(朝報) to be fully appreciated as the world's first "print typographical daily newspaper", further discussions need to be carried out in other fields.
