This study aims to look into pastoral care that is required to help Christian young adults in the age of a demographic cliff to have elevated willingness for childbirth and to form their spiritual identity as Christians. To this end, the research was carried out with a focus on “Bible-based narrative therapy”and involves the followings. First, with respect to a demographic cliff some introductory explanations were provided on its general concept and possible causes. Second, the concept of the “Bible-based narrative therapy”was explored with an aim to enhance the childbirth willingness of Christian young adults and thus to give rise to practical deeds. Third, the counseling process, as a means of pastoral care, adopted key techniques from the narrative therapy, which can be categorized into 3 stages: (1) externalizing conversation, (2) identifying unique outcomes (3) definition ceremony designed for re-authoring conversation. This study, particularly, in an environment that is lacking in pastoral counseling research associated with a demographic cliff, has a significance in that it explains pastoral care required for Christian young adults in the age of a demographic cliff by virtue of narrative therapy, and further provides a practical process leading to actual deeds.

한국사회는 청년층이 출산을 꺼리고 출산행위가 감소하므로 생산인구가 감소하는 인구절벽 현상이 발생하였다. 이로 인해서 한국사회는 성장이 멈추고, 국민은 행복한 삶을 보장받지 못한다. 한국 정부는 저출산을 해결하기 위해서 다양한 정책을 시행하 였지만 효과가 미비하고 저출산이 지속되고 있다. 출산율을 높이기 위해서는 청년층 의 출산의지가 더 중요하다는 것을 의미한다. 기독 청년층이 출산과 관련한 인식을 개선하고 실질적인 행위가 이루어지기 위해서는 신앙이 중요한 영향을 미친다. 본 논 문은 인구절벽 시대에 기독 청년층이 출산 의지를 높이고 신앙 정체성을 형성하는데 필요한 목회 돌봄을 연구목적으로 한다. 이는 ‘성경을 근거로 하는 이야기치료’를 중 심으로 연구하고, 자세한 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인구절벽과 관련한 일반적 개념과 발생 원인을 설명하였다. 둘째, 기독 청년 층이 출산의지를 높이고 실질적인 행위로 이끌 수 있도록 ‘성경을 근거로 하는 이야 기치료’의 개념을 살펴보았다. 셋째, 목회 돌봄을 위한 상담 과정은 이야기치료의 주 요 기법을 적용하였고, 3단계로 구분할 수 있다. 이는 1) 외재화, 2) 독특한 결과 찾기, 3) 재저작 대화를 위한 정의예식이다. 인구절벽과 관련한 목회 상담 연구가 부족한 상황에서 본 연구가 인구절벽 시대에 기독 청년에게 필요한 목회 돌봄을 이야기치료 로 설명하고 이를 실천할 수 있는 과정을 제시한 점이 의의라고 할 수 있다.
