In this study, I examine the understanding of Asian theology and inculturation of Aloysius Pieris from Sri Lanka and Peter C. Phan from Vietnam and seek the inculturation of the Christian Church in Asia. Pieris was a well-known theologian of the Asian liberation theology, which spread Asian theology widely to the world theology, and made poverty and religiousness the main theme of Asian theology, claiming the realities of Asia. Peter Phan is a Vietnamese-American who comes to the United States as a refugee of the Vietnam War and is an Asian theologian who studies theology in response to the reality of Asia and the church. He succeeded the theological achievements of previous Asian theologians and tried to establish Asian theology that meets the Asian reality in the postmodern era. If Pieris' theology emphasized the religiousness of Asia and connected the performing teachings and experiences in various religions with the faith following Jesus of Christianity, Phan emphasized the unique traditions of Asia and developed interest in inculturation theology. I look into the understanding of inculturation of two people and seek ways to apply and expand their achievements to the church in Asia. This part is an area that Peter Phan is interested in and summarized. I would like to think about the theology and the liturgy of modern Asian churches and think about the direction to go forward through the study of Phan's understanding of inculturation.

본고는 스리랑카 출신의 알로이시우스 피어리스와 베트남 출신의 피터 판의 아시 아 신학과 문화화 이해를 고찰하고 그에 기반하여 그리스도교회의 예전적 문화화를 모색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 피어리스는 아시아 신학을 세계 신학계에 널리 전파한 아시아 해방신학의 주창자로, 가난과 종교성을 아시아의 실재를 주장하며 아시아 신 학의 중심주제로 삼았다. 피터 판은 베트남계 미국인으로 베트남 전쟁의 피난민으로 미국에 건너와 아시아의 현실과 교회에 대한 응답으로 신학을 연구하는 아시아 신학 자이다. 그는 이전의 아시아 신학자들이 이룬 성과들을 계승하면서 포스트모던 시대 의 아시아 현실에 부합하는 아시아 신학을 정립하고자 노력하였다. 피어리스의 신학 이 아시아의 종교성을 강조하며 여러 종교들 속에 있는 수행적 가르침과 체험을 그리 스도교의 예수를 따라가는 신앙과 연결켰다면 판은 아시아의 고유한 전통들을 중시하 는 동시에 문화화 신학에 대한 관심을 발전시켰다. 판은 피어리스가 제창한 아시아 신학과 교회의 정체성을 현대 아시아에 연결하여 발전시키고 있다. 그런 의미에서 두 사람의 신학을 함께 보는 것은 유의미한 연구이다. 특별히 두 사람의 문화화 이해를 살피고, 그들의 성과를 교회에 적용하는 길에 모색하고자 한다. 이 부분은 피터 판이 관심을 갖고 정리한 부분으로, 아시아 교회가 실제적으로 필요로 하는 영역이라 할 수 있다. 가톨릭교회의 커다란 전환점이었던 제2차 바티칸공의회의 헌장과 훈령을 통 하여 예전의 문화화를 설명하는 판의 연구를 통하여 현대 아시아 교회의 신학과 예전 을 다시 생각하고 앞으로 나아갈 방향을 생각하고자 한다.
