Comparing Style Shift Among Machine Translation and Human Translation : Case Study of Korean-Chinese Newspaper Editorial Translation.
초록
영어
This paper investigates differences in style between human and machine translators in Korean-Chinese newspaper editorial translation by quantitatively analyzing optional translation shifts of interactional metadiscourse markers. The analysis found that there are noticeable differences between human and machine translators in recurring shift patterns, which represents their own style. The tendencies revealed in the quantitative analysis indicate that the human translator used more shifts than the machine translator. The human translator expanded mostly by adding boosters, and changed the directness of request expressions frequently. The machine translator deletes attitude markers, adds engagement markers and self-mentions more frequently than the human translator.
