This study aimed to investigate Korean-adjusted psychopathic symptoms in terms of prototypicality analysis(Kreis et al., 2012) based on CAPP Model(Cooke et al., 2004). Moreover, we also explored the associations between psychopathic symptoms and general perception/attitude in lay people through the questionnaire(i.e., Universal Protocol) developed by Kreis (2008). This protocol consists 29 questions based on five factors such as criminality, rehabilitation potential, ethological underpinnings, moral judgement, and legal sanctions. As a result, lay people(n=1724) rated 27 items of the 33 CAPP symptoms as more than moderately prototypical, whereas foils were rated as less prototypical, which is accordance with previous literatures. Also, the associations between general perception and recognition of CAPP symptoms were interestingly identified. Commonly, several symptoms such as aggression, detached, callous, entitlement in self-conception contributed to lay people’s perception in terms of criminality, legal perception, and rehabilitation. These perceptions and attitude may be correlated with excessive anxiety of psychopathic crime. Finally, implication and limitations of the study are discussed and suggestions are added for later research direction.

본 연구의 목적은 한국형 사이코패스성격장애 증상 원형성 (prototypicality; Rosch, 1978)을 찾고 이런 증상들에 대한 인식이 어떻게 사이코패스에 대한 관점과 태도에 영향을 주는 지 탐색적 수준에서 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 사이코패 스 증상을 가장 포괄적으로 수렴해 내고 있는 CAPP 모델 (Cooke, Hart, Logan, & Michie, 2004; 한국판 서종한 등, 2018)을 활용하였고 일반인의 관점과 태도를 살펴보기 위해 일반화된 프로토콜(Kreis, 2008)을 적용하였다. 연구 결과, 33개의 사이코패스 증상 중 27개의 증상이 보통 이상 수준의 원형성을 보였고 기존 국내외 연구 결과와 비슷한 수준을 보 였다. 또한 사이코패스 증상이 어떻게 일반인의 관점에 영향 을 주는 살펴보기 위해 크게 5가지 영역의 관점과 태도 살펴 보았다. 공격성, 무정함, 자기와 관련된 특별 혹은 특권의식, 즐거움이 결여된, 무모함 등의 다양한 수준의 사이코패스 증 상이 차별적으로 일반인의 관점과 태도에 유의미한 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 기반으로 사이코패스 증상을 인식 하는 정도가 어떻게 관점에 영향을 주는지 살펴볼 수 있었고 불필요한 혹은 과도한 경계/불안 등에 대한 대처에 활용할 수 있을 것으로 보인다. 향후 연구와 시사점을 함께 논의에 기술 하였다.
