The purpose of the study is to examine the unique status of the Yeongil Bay area petroglyphs in the field of Korea’s. In order to look at the meaning of the Yeongil Bay petroglyphs, including the Chilpori petroglyphs, attention should be paid to the stylistic establishment of the sword motif petroglyphs (劍把形岩刻畵). In this context, the study considered the symbolism of sword motif petroglyphs, the stylistic development process, and the prototype. The status of Chilpo-ri petroglyphs needs to be understood how they contributed to the lives of people of that time in the process of spreading rapidly. I would like to look at it from the point of view of the ritual for stable water supply. After all, the regional cultural phenomenon called Chilpo-ri Petroglyph in this sense should be discussed at the cultural and historical level of the southern part of the Korean Peninsula during the Bronze Age.

본 연구는 한국 암각화에서 영일만 암각화의 고유한 위상을 살펴보고자 하는 것이다. 칠포리 암각화를 비롯한 영일만일대 암각화의 의미를 알기 위해서는 먼저 유형적 용어로서 검파형암각 화라는 탁월한 조형물의 성립을 놓고 그것을 말할 수 있을 것이다. 같은 시각에서 검파형암각화 의 상징성과 함께 유형적 발전상, 원형에 대한 생각을 요약하여 정리하고자 했다. 그런 점에서 칠포리암각화의 고유한 위상이라고 한다면 그것은 유형적 파급과 관련하여, 확산 되어 가는 과정에서 검파형암각화는 어떻게 동시대인들의 삶의 과정에 기여하였는가 하는 점인데, 그것을 필자는 농경에서 물의 안정적 수급을 위한 기우의례와 관련하여 바라보고자 하였다. 물론 그 결말은 신상화이다. 결국 이상과 같은 의미에서 칠포리암각화라고 하는 지역적 문화현 상은 마침내 확대된 의미에서, 청동기시대 한반도 남부지방의 문화사적 차원에서 하나의 큰 흐 름으로 작용하였다고 할 것이다.
