The typical cases of old historical manuscripts showing the background and process of wood block printing are Ganㆍyeokㆍyilㆍgi (刊役日記) and Ganㆍyeokㆍsoㆍyongㆍhaㆍgi (刊役所用下記). This study focused on Ganㆍyeokㆍsoㆍyongㆍhaㆍgi, which recorded expenditures spent on the publishing of wood printing blocks. This study examined the process and expenditure of biography publishing by analyzing Ganㆍyeokㆍsoㆍyongㆍhaㆍgi, which was written when Choi jinlib’s (崔震立, 1568∼ 1636) biography was published in Yongsan-seowon (龍山書院), Gyeongju (慶州) in 1784. This study examined the characteristics of Ganㆍyeokㆍsoㆍyongㆍhaㆍgi, which was the account book kept on the process of publishing the wood block printing biography, the amount of money spent on biography publishing, the situation conjectured from the details of the expenditure, goods and materials required in the publishing work, incomes and expenses related to the publishing, etc.

이 논문은 조선시대 목판본 간행과정을 알 수 있는 ｢刊役日記｣, ｢刊役所用下記｣ 등의 자료에 주목하여 간행 과정을 분석한 것이다. 이번 연구에서는 1784년 경주 용산서원에서의 崔震立(1568∼1636) 실기 중간본 간행 시 작성된 간행비 지출장부인 ｢刊役所用下記｣를 대상으로 하였다. ｢간역소용하기｣를 분석하여 목판본 간행이 있었던 실제 장소와 공간, 간행단계와 과정, 간행비용 등에 대해 다루었는데, 그 내용은 다음과 같다. 간행장소는 용산서원과 멀지 않은 천룡사 서암에서 진행되었다. 간행과정은 원고 필사와 수정이 있었던 서사 단계, 실제 판각이 이루어진 판각 단계, 책판을 인출하는 단계로 구분되었다. 간행비의 대부분은 문중계와 용산서원 소유의 토지를 방매하여 마련하였고, 지출된 비용의 80%는 참여인력의 인건비, 쌀과 식재료비 등으로 지출되었다.
