The purpose of this study was to examine the specific goal of student teaching and ways of improving student teaching using Delphi technique in an effort to suggest how to ensure the efficient management of student teaching. To achieve the purpose of the study, a Delphi expert panel was composed of 10 selected experts who guided student teaching and made research on it in the fields of early childhood education, elementary education and secondary education, and a delphi survey was conducted three times on them. The findings of the study were as follows: The delphi expert panel perceived that the goals of student teaching were to provide the opportunity for preservice early childhood teachers to experience the due roles and attitude of a teacher, to improve their professionalism, to confirm their aptitude for the teaching profession, to increase their understanding of schools and students, and to enhance the effect of teacher education. In addition, the delphi experts pointed out that the ways of improving student teaching were to reconsider schools for that, its time, period, content and cost and to offer incentives for cooperating teachers. Given the findings of the study, the goal of student teaching should primarily be to make preservice teachers realize what to learn to become a good teacher and why to do that by checking what qualifications the teacher should possess. To improve the current student teaching system, the specific object, content, time, period and place of every stage of student teaching that was participatory teaching, teaching practice and work practice should fully be reconsidered, and it seems that the central government and municipal and provincial offices of education should not only provide financial aid to readjust allowance for cooperating teachers to a realistic level but also expand facilities in schools for student teaching for the sake of student teachers such as library and resting room.

본 연구에서 델파이 기법을 통해 교육실습의 구체적인 목적과 교육실습의 개선방안을 파악 함으로써 교육실습의 효율적인 운영방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 이러한 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 델파이 전문가 패널은 유아교육, 초등교육, 중등교육에서 교육실습을 지도하고 교육실습 에 대한 연구를 한 전문가 10명을 선정하였으며, 이들을 대상으로 델파이 조사를 3회 실시하 였다. 본 연구에서 밝혀진 연구결과를 살펴보면, 델파이 전문가 패널들은 교육실습의 목적은 예비교사의 교사로서의 역할과 태도 경험 기회 제공과 전문성 증진, 교직에 대한 적성 확인, 학교현장 및 학생들에 대한 이해, 교사교육의 효과 제고에 있다고 인식하였다. 또한 델파이 전문가들은 교육실습의 개선방안으로 실습학교와 실습시기 및 기간, 실습내용, 실습비용, 실 습지도 교사에게 인센티브 제공을 지적하였다. 이러한 연구결과를 볼 때, 교육실습의 목적은 예비교사가 교사의 구체적인 능력과 자질을 확인함으로써 유능한 교사가 성장하기 위해 무엇 을 어떻게, 왜, 언제 배워야 하는지를 인식하도록 하는 데 주안점을 두어야 할 것이다. 또한 현행의 교육실습체제를 개선하기 위해서는 교육실습은 참관실습, 수업실습, 실무실습의 단계 별로 구체적인 목적과 내용, 실시 시기 및 기간, 실습장소를 충분히 검토해야 하며, 국가와 시·도교육청 차원의 재정적 지원을 통해 교육실습 지도교사의 수당의 현실화뿐만 아니라 실 습생을 위한 도서실, 휴게 공간 등의 실습학교 시설 확충이 필요한 것으로 나타났다.
