The purpose of this study was to prepare the foundation to meet the career counseling needs of elementary school children and their parents. Career counseling is one of the most affected areas of counseling by social changes, and the elementary school students will be more affected than any generation. The most representative keyword that expresses the future characteristics that elementary school students will face is “change”. Changes in the world of work, such as changes in employment status, changes in job types and structures, changes in job skills, are already experienced by many people and will accelerate further. The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of the changes in future societies that are closely related to elementary school career counseling and the processes and intervention strategies to apply to the career counseling for the elementary school children and their parents. In terms of career counseling theory, career theories were reviewed to suggest a new paradigm for the perspective of personal-environmental matching paradigm. And the application of career counseling techniques using counseling media such as occupational cards, career development SCT, and career genogram were proposed. The career counseling techniques on career decision-making in elementary school was discussed with the question of versatility, inconsistent ability and interest, inconsistent interests, and conflict with parents.

이 연구는 최근 관심이 높아지고 있는 초등 시기 진로 개인상담에 대한 고찰을 통해 초등학 교 아동 및 부모의 진로상담 요구에 부응할 수 있는 기반을 마련하고자 수행되었다. 상담의 영역 가운데 진로상담은 사회적 변화의 영향을 가장 많이 받는 영역이고, 현재 초등학생들은 그 변화의 영향을 어느 세대보다 더 많이 받게 될 것이다. 초등학생들이 맞이하게 될 미래의 특성을 표현하는 가장 대표적 키워드는 “변화”다. 고용상태의 변화, 직업의 종류와 구조의 변 화, 직무의 내용 및 요구되는 직업능력의 변화 등 직업세계에서 일어나는 변화는 이미 많은 사람들이 경험하고 있고 앞으로 더 가속될 것이다. 이 연구는 급격하게 변화하는 미래사회를 살아가게 될 초등학생들을 대상으로 하는 진로상담의 과제를 이해하기 위해 초등학교 진로 상담과 밀접히 관련된 미래사회의 변화 양상의 특징과 여기에 부응할 초등학교 시기 진로 개인상담의 구체적 실천 방안에 대해 지금까지 제안된 개입전략을 중심으로 고찰해 보았다. 진로상담이론 측면에서 개인-환경 매칭 관점에서의 진로선택에서 벗어나 새로운 패러다임을 제안하는 진로이론들을 살펴보고, 직업카드, 진로발달 SCT, 진로가계도 등 상담매체를 활용한 진로상담 기법의 적용을 제안하였다. 초등학교 시기 진로미결정에 대한 상담 실제에 대해 다 재다능의 문제, 능력과 흥미의 불일치, 일관성이 낮은 흥미의 문제, 부모와의 갈등 문제, 예 체능 진로상담 등을 논의하였다.
