This research is aimed at examining the subjective perception patterns of the general public about the deployment of Terminal High Altitude Area Defense on the Korean Peninsula by applying the Q methodology. In all, four meaningful types were derived as a result of 36 Q samples being made in card format and forced to be classified to 45 P samples. All four types share a common consensus on the need to deploy THAAD, although there are differences in degree. However, it recognizes that even if THAAD is deployed, THAAD will not deal a major blow to the local economy, along with concerns that it should maintain relations with China. However, there is a slight significant difference between the different types of views on THAAD deployment, which, combined with the characteristics, could be named as of Type 1, of Type 2, of Type 3. and of Type 4. Based on these findings, it is meaningful in that we understood the subjective perception of THAAD deployment and were able to gauge the public's perception patterns in future social conflict issues.

최근 한반도 사드배치를 둘러싸고 사회갈등이 증폭되었다. 사드를 둘러싼 사회갈등의 원 인을 진단하고 해결방법을 모색하기 위해서는 일반국민들이 사드에 대해 갖고 있는 주관 적 인식구조를 살펴볼 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 Q 방법론을 적용해 한반도 사드(THAAD) 배치에 대한 일반국민들의 주관적 인식유형을 살펴보기 위한 것이다. 36개의 Q표본을 카 드형식으로 만들어 45명의 P표본들에게 강제분류토록 한 결과 모두 4개의 의미 있는 유 형들이 도출되었다. 4개 유형 모두는 정도의 차이는 있지만 사드배치 필요성에 대해서는 공통적으로 공감하고 있다. 그러나 사드배치를 하더라도 중국과의 관계를 유지해야 한다 는 우려와 함께 사드가 지역 경제에 큰 타격은 주지 않을 것이라고 인식하고 있다. 하지만, 각 유형 간에 사드배치를 바라보는 시각에서 약간씩의 의미 있는 차이를 보이고 있는데, 그 특성을 종합하면, 제1유형은 비판적 수용형, 제2유형은 소극적 수용형, 제3유형은 갈 등우려형, 제4유형은 적극적 수용형으로 명명할 수 있었다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 사드배치에 대한 주관적 인식을 이해하고, 향후 사회적 갈등문제에 있어 국민들의 인식유 형을 가늠할 수 있었다는 점에서 의미가 있다고 하겠다.
