The purpose of this study was to derive the improvement plan of survival swimming education by analyzing the status and problems of survival swimming program. Sampling among nomadic sampling methods studies five elementary school teachers who provide training for swimming training in Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, five swimming instructors who are entrusted with training for swimming training, and five parents whose children are training for swimming training. The participants were selected as participants and the conclusions obtained through in-depth interview, a qualitative research method, are as follows. First, as an improvement plan for survival swimming facilities, it is necessary to establish swimming pools in elementary schools, evenly distribute and manage the educational equipment for survival swimming, and to establish an institutional system to perform survival swimming in open water on a regular basis. Second, to improve the survival swimmers, the teacher group should be educated as a semi-professional group. In addition to enhancing the professionalism of the survival swimmers, a national certified survival swimmer system should be established. Third, to improve the survival swimming program, it is necessary to expand the survival swimming training hours and to develop a systematic survival swimming program considering the site conditions, training time, and educational equipment.

본 연구는 생존수영 프로그램의 현황 및 문제점 분석을 통해 생존수영 교육의 개선방안을 도출하는데 본 연구의 목적이 있었다. 유목적 표집법 중 표본추출을 통해 경기도 성남시 분당구 소재 수영의무교육을 실시하는 초등학교 교사 5명, 수영의무교육을 위탁받아서 진행하는 수영강사 5명, 자녀가 수영의무교육을 받고 있는 학부모 5명을 연구참여자로 선정하였으며, 질적연구 방법인 심층면담을 통해 도출된 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 생존수영 시설 개선방안으로는 초등 학교 내 수영장 시설을 신설하고 생존수영 교육장비를 균등하게 배분 관리하며, 정기적으로 개방형 수역에서 생존수영을 실시할 수 있는 제도적 장치를 마련해야 할 것이다. 둘째, 생존수영 지도자 개선방안으로는 교사집단을 준전문가집단으로 교육시켜야 하며, 생존수영 지도자들의 전문성 제고와 함께, 국가공인 생존수영 자격제도를 신설해야 할 것이다. 셋째, 생존수영 프로그램 개선방안으로는 생존수영 교육시수를 확대하고 현장여건과 교육시간, 교육장비를 고려한 체계적인 생존수영 프로그램을 개발해야 할 것이다.
