This study confirmed the appearance of several new words not traditionally used as affixes that have now had their meanings and functions changed after becoming affixes. It further examined the manner of these changes and their semantic characteristics. The following are examples of new prefixes. This study confirmed that each of the following have gained prefix status: ‘Ggul’(꿀-), which means ‘something fruitful and really good‘, ’Hon’(혼-), which means ‘alone, the Chinese character-derived ’Mayak’(마약-), which refers to ‘a strong addiction’, ‘Haek’ (핵-) which means ‘really’ or ‘very’, and ‘Gat’ (갓-), which, as a foreign derived prefix, means ‘something as great as a god’. The following examples are those confirmed to be new suffixes: The native Korean suffix ‘babo‘ (-바보), which refers to ’someone who really loves [something or someone]‘, the Chinese character-derived ’jolbyuk‘(-절벽), which refers to a ’drastically reducing phenomenon’, ‘-goja‘ (-고자), which refers to a person with insufficient sense or ability in a particular field, ’Chung’ (-충), which belittles a person who exhibits characteristics of a worm, ‘Tera’ (-테러), which is an affix derived from a foreign language that refers to ‘something seen or heard that is inappropriate or extreme’ and ‘beulli‘ (-블리), which refers to ’a lovely or adorable person‘.

본 연구는 접사적인 기능이 없던 단어가 의미가 변하여 접사의 기능을 획득 현상에 주목하여 이에 해당되는 몇 가지 신어 접사들을 확인하고 그 형태·의미론적 특징을 살펴보고자 한다. 본 연구에서 신어 접두사로 처리하고자 하는 예들은 다음과 같다. 고유어 접두사로 ‘알차고 매우 좋은 것을 뜻하는 ‘꿀-’, ‘혼자’라는 의미로 사용되는 ‘혼-’, 한자어 접두사로 ‘중독성이 강하다’는 의미로 쓰이는 ‘마약-’을, ‘몹시, 매우’의 뜻을 가진 ‘핵-’, 외래어 접두사로 ‘신과 같이 훌륭함’이라는 뜻으로 사용되는 ‘갓-’이 각각 접두사의 자격을 가졌다는 것을 검증하도록 한다. 이어서 신어 접미사로 처리하고자 하는 예들은 다음과 같다. 고유어 접미사로 ‘~를 너무나도 사랑하는 누구’라는 뜻으로 쓰이고 있는 ‘-바보’, 한자어 접미사로 ‘급격하게 줄어드는 어떠한 현상’을 뜻하는 ‘-절벽’, ‘어떤 분야에 지식이나 경험이 부족한 사람’을 뜻하는 ‘-고자, 비하의 의미가 담긴 ’벌레와 비유하여 비하의 뜻을 더하는 접미사 ‘-충’, 외래어 접사로 ‘무엇을 보거나 듣는 것이 못마땅하고 그 정도가 심하다’는 뜻으로 사용이 되는 ‘-테러’, ‘사랑스러운 누구’를 뜻하는 ‘-블리’에 대해 각각 다루기로 한다. 본고에서 다루고 있는 요소들의 공통적인 특징은 대체로 자립명사인 것들이 기본 의미로 쓰이는 동시에 접사적인 성격을 얻어 접사화 과정에 있다는 점이다.
