Unification Thought envisions the principle of mutual existence, mutual prosperity, and mutual righteousness as the fundamental ideology for the ideal world, and for the settlement of mutual righteousness, which is the key concept of the principle, it urges to establish ‘universal ethics.’ This paper first deals with the inseparable, complementary relationship between value and norm and the priority of value over norm in the perspective of Unification Thought, and then presents two presuppositions that are needed in sharing universal value and universal ethics. The first presupposition is related to a conviction that all people possess universal desire, and the second is that there exist the attributes of the others that can satisfy such universal desire. With regard to the first presupposition, this paper, focusing on the concept of shimjung, deals with a possibility that all people have an irresistible desire of achieving joy through love. For the second presupposition, while regarding the perfection and happiness of the others as what can satisfy the desire of shimjung, this paper points out that small victories in life, that is, the moments of grasping the satisfaction of the desire can open a way to establishing universal value and universal ethics.

통일사상은 이상사회의 기본이념으로서 공생공영공의주의를 제시하고, 그 근간 이 되는 공의주의의 정착을 위하여 공동윤리(共同倫理) 확립을 촉구한다. 본 논문은 가치와 규범의 불가분성 및 규범에 대한 가치의 우선성을 통일사상의 관점에서 파 악한 후, 만인이 따를 수 있는 공동윤리 확립에 필요한 보편적 가치의 공유를 위해 다음의 두 가지 전제를 제시한다. 첫째는 모든 인간에게 보편적 욕망이 내재해야 한 다는 점이며, 둘째는 그 욕망을 충족시켜 줄 수 있는 대상의 성질이 존재해야 한다 는 점이다. 본 논문에서는 첫 번째 전제와 관련하여 통일사상의 심정 개념을 통해 전 인류가 사랑을 통해 기쁨을 추구하고자 하는 억제하기 어려운 근원적 욕망을 지 니고 있음을 제시한다. 또한 두 번째 전제와 관련하여 타인의 완전성과 행복으로 인 해 심정의 욕망이 충족될 수 있음을 제시하면서, 그 욕망의 충족 지점에서 보편가치 및 공동윤리가 세워질 수 있는 가능성이 열릴 수 있음을 밝히고 있다.
