This study aimed to understand the structure of narrative and flow in ｢Joseon Miin Byuljeon｣, a Korean traditional musical drama upon analyzing it semiotically and to review how the dancing was related to the narrative structure. Upon the analysis results, the narrative in ｢Joseon Miin Byuljeon｣ was developed focusing on the conflicts of the characters and emotional changes, and it had the narrative structure to enhance the dramatic tension and deliver the subjects of the drama clearly by repeating the conspiracies of the people around them. In the analysis results of Actantial model, the main character who was a main agent considered the dancing as the subject of values and desire and realized the desire by the helps of assistants. In addition, major dramatic incident was developed upon satirizing social wrongdoings by conflicts between the main agent and the dissenter. Upon the analysis of paradigm, traditional role of sex was highlighted and satirized by showing the biased stereotype to determine the standard of beauty only with appearances. Also, it implicated ambivalent values to criticize or expand a variety of ‘Implicit Bias’ in the society throughout the work such as application of discriminatory perceptions on the cultures for the power class and general public. In the work, 15 scene of dancing and singing were inserted showing five characteristics related with narrative based on the analysis of the scene focusing on the narrative. They were the case to insert the scene simply to assist the development of the drama; a scene to help the connection of narration; a scene to heighten the dramatic atmosphere; a scene to demonstrate the subject and idea of the drama well; and a scene to deliver the character’s emotion efficiently. Among these, the biggest portion was the scene to deliver the character’s emotion and it was classified with two types of dancing including that for expression of the personal emotion and that for emotional interaction.

이 연구는 국악 뮤지컬 드라마「조선 미인 별전」을 기호학적으로 분석하여 서사구조와 흐름을 이해하고, 춤이 서사구조와 어떠한 연관성을 갖고 삽입되어 있는지 살펴보고자 했다. 분석결과「조선 미인 별전」은 인물의 갈등 및 감정의 변화를 중심으로 서사가 전개되었으며, 주변인들의 음모가 반복되면서 극적 긴장감을 높이고 극의 주제를 명확하게 전달하는 서사 구조를 지니고 있었다. 행위소 모델 분석결과 주체자인 주인공은 춤을 가치와 욕구의 대상으로 삼았으며, 조력자들의 도움을 받아 욕구를 실현한다. 또한 주체자와 반대자와의 대립을 통해 사회적 비리를 풍자하며 주요한 극적 사건을 전개했다. 계열체 분석결과 고전적인 성역할을 강조하였으며, 미의 기준을 외적인 요소로만 판단하는 왜곡된 고정관념을 담아냄과 동시에 풍자하였다. 더불어 권력층과 대중의 문화에 대한 차별적 인식을 반영하는 등 작품 전반에 걸쳐 사회의 다양한 암묵적 편견에 대해 비판하거나 확대하는 양면적 가치를 내재하고 있었다. 작품에는 15개의 춤과 노래 영상이 삽입되었는데, 삽입된 영상을 서사 중심으로 분석한 결과 다섯 가지 특성을 갖고 서사와 연관되는 것으로 나타났다. 첫째, 단순히 극의 진행을 위해 영상이 삽입된 경우, 둘째, 서사의 연결을 돕기 위해 삽입된 경우, 셋째, 극적 분위기를 고조시키기 위한 경우, 넷째, 극의 주제와 사상을 잘 드러날 수 있도록 삽입된 경우, 다섯째, 효율적으로 인물의 감정을 전달하기 위해 삽입된 경우이다. 이 중 가장 많은 비중을 차지한 것은 인물의 감정 전달을 위한 것이었으며, 인물의 감정 전달을 위해 삽입된 경우 개인의 감정표현을 위한 춤과 감정적 상호작용을 위한 춤 두 가지로 구분되었다.
