The Relationship between High School Student' Multidimensional Perfectionism Tendency and Adaptation to School Life : The Mediated Effect by Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy

The purposes of this study were to examine the relationship between multidimensional perfectionism tendency of high school students, adaptation to school life and career decision-making self-efficacy and, to confirm whether career decision-making self-efficacy mediates on multidimensional perfectionism tendency and adaptation to school life. For this purpose, The survey was conducted with 314 participants who are students at high schools located in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. Based on the collected data, Pearson's Correlation analysis and Baron and Kenny's 3 step regression analysis were performed using SPSS 23. To verify the significance of the mediation effect, Sobel test was conducted. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, In the correlation with major variables, the correlation between multi-dimensional perfectionism tendency, adaptation to school life, and career decision-making self-efficacy was positively or negatively related. Second, career decision-making self-efficacy was found to play a complete mediating role in the relationship between self-oriented perfectionism and adaption to school life. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study were discussed.
