The Effects of Planned Happenstance Skills on Career Adaptability of University Students - Focusing on Mediating Effect of Career Decision Self-Efficacy -

The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of career decision-making self-efficacy on the relationship between planned happenstance skills and career adaptability. The subjects of this study were 321 university students (127 male and 194 female students) in capital area. The data were analysis through Structural Equating Model(SEM). The results of this study are as follows. First, there was a significant positive correlation between planned happenstance skills and career adaptability. And there were significant positive correlations between planned happenstance skills and career decision-making self-efficacy. Also there were significant positive correlations between career decision-making self-efficacy and career adaptability. Second, a research model and a competition model were established to verify the mediating effects of career decision-making self-efficacy in the relationship between planned accident skills and career adaptability of university students. As a result, it was found that the research model, in which the career decision-making self-efficacy was mediated partly, was appropriate in the relationship between planned happenstance skills and career adaptability. These results suggest that career decision-making self-efficacy is a significant factor in university students' career adaptability. Based on this, the significance of this study were discussed, and the limitations of the study and subsequent research were suggested.
