The Mediating Effects of Career Decision Making Self-Efficacy on the Relationship between Perceived Parental Support and Career Maturity of College Students

The main purpose of the study was to examine the mediating effects of career decision making self-efficacy on the relationship between perceived parental support and career maturity of college students. The subjects were 328(105 male, 223 female) students in a university at M city in Jeonnam province. Statistical analyses of data were frequency, mean, Pearson's correlation coefficient, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling. SPSSWIN 23.0 and AMOS 20.0 were used for data analysis. The results were as follows: First, college students’ perceived parental support was positively correlated to their career maturity. Also, college students’ perceived parental support was positively correlated to their career decision making self-efficacy. Second, college students’ career decision making self-efficacy had partial mediating effects on the relationship between perceived parental support and career maturity. Third, college students’ perceived parental support had positive direct effects on career maturity. Fourth, as a result of analyzing the mediating effects of college students’ career decision making self-efficacy on the relationship between perceived parental support and career maturity, it was found that college students’ perceived parental support had significant indirect effects on career maturity.
