This study aimed to compare and analyze the response characteristics of The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 (MMPI-2) clinical scale profile and the Color Personality Type Indicator (CPTI). In this study, MMPI-2 and CPTI were each administered to 56 graduate students majoring in counseling. For data analysis, the top three and the bottom three T scores of MMPI-2 clinical scale were selected, and comparison was conducted mainly on the score response characteristics and the CPTI personality characteristics. The results are as follows. The results of comparison of the response modality of MMPI-2 clinical scale profile as per color personality type were found to be within the normal scope and no significant increase in scale was observed. The results of comparison of the difference in the average T score of MMPI-2 clinical scale per color personality type, red showed the highest score at Hy (48.80%), yellow at Pd (59.50%), green at Si (56.12%), blue at D (57.31%), and purple at Hy (52.13%). The results of comparative analysis of the response characteristics of MMPI-2 clinical scale profile and the color personality characteristics, a significant association was observed between the two tests. This means that there is a clinical similarity at a significant level between MMPI’s response characteristics and CPTI. This study has its meaning in the sense that it is the first attempt to compare the color personality characteristics of CPTI and the clinical scale of MMPI-2, and it also succeeded in revealing the clinical similarity between them.

본 연구는 색의 선호도를 활용한 성격검사로 유형 중심의 자기보고식 평가 도구인 컬러 성격유형검사(CPTI)와 인간의 병리를 진단하는 도구로 널리 알려진 MMPI-2 프로파일에 나타나는 반응특성을 비교하므로 CPTI가 성격유형 감별 도구로서 유용성과 실용성이 있음 을 검증하는 데 목적이 있다. MMPI-2의 임상척도 프로파일 반응특성과 컬러성격유형검사 (CPTI)를 비교하고 분석하기 위하여 상담전공대학원생 56명을 대상으로 MMPI-2와 CPTI 검사를 각각 실시하였다. CPTI 컬러 유형별 성격특성과 MMPI-2 검사결과에서 나타나는 반응특성을 비교한 결과 T점수의 유의미한 상승이 나타나지 않아, 본 연구참여자가 일반적 범주에 속함을 나타냈다. CPTI컬러유형별 MMPI-2 임상척도의 평균 T점수 차이 비교결과, 레드는 Hy(48.80점), 그린은 Si(56.12점), 블루는 D(57.31점), 옐로우는 Pd(59.50점), 퍼플은 Hy(52.13점) 척도 에서 가장 높은 점수가 나타나 각각의 컬러가 MMPI-2 임상 척도의 성격 특성과 높은 유사점이 있음을 보여주었다. MMPI-2 임상척도 프로파일 반응특성과 컬러유 형별 성격특성 비교분석 결과, 상위영역 3개의 임상척도와 하위영역 3개의 임상척도는 각 컬러가 지닌 성격특성을 잘 나타내 줄 수 있고 검사 간 유의미한 연관성을 나타냈다. MMPI-2의 반응특성과 CPTI의 컬러성격 유형 간에 임상적 유사성이 있음을 보여준다. 본 연구의 의의는 CPTI 컬러성격특성을 MMPI-2의 임상척도와 비교하므로 개인의 색상선 호도를 통한 성격특성을 객관적으로 측정하고 평가하는 검증된 성격검사 도구의 개발과 연 구를 위한 최초의 시도라는 점에 있다.
