The Korea Coast Guard came up with a five-year "Reconstruction & Korea Coast Guard" plan as a way to improve professionalism and capability in the job while changing from quantitative growth to qualitative growth that they had been pursuing. To complete such innovation tasks, it is to train "professional maritime police," and to consolidate them, it is to secure excellent personnel. However, Education of the New Korea Coast Guard is very important because it is difficult to incorporate the knowledge and skills necessary to perform a job without granting professional training to excellent human resources. Nevertheless, there is a dearth of interest in and related research by the Korea Coast Guard Academy Educational Students, the source of the Korea Coast Guard. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to analyze the awareness of the curriculum, period, and educational environment of the Korea Coast Guard Academy Educational Students, and put forward a whole range of suggestions for training excellent New Korea Coast Guard.

해양경찰은 해양경찰이 그동안 추구해 왔던 양적인 성장에서 벗어나 질적인 성장 으로 전화해 조직 전체의 전문성과 역량을 획기적으로 개선시켜 나가겠다고 다짐하 며 ‘재조해경(再造海警)’ 5개년 계획을 마련하였다. 이와 같은 해양경찰의 혁신과제를 완성하기 위해서는 해양경찰 인적자원의 ‘전문 해양경찰’을 양성이 우선 과제로 여겨지는데 그 시작이 바로 우수한 인재를 확보하 는 것이다. 하지만 우수한 자격을 갖춘 인적자원을 확보하였다고 하더라도 이들에게 적합한 교육·훈련의 기회를 부여하지 않고서는 업무수행에 필요한 지식과 기술을 갖 추기를 기대하기는 어렵기 때문에 신임 해양경찰의 교육은 매우 중요하다. 하지만 해양경찰의 기본 뿌리가 되는 해양경찰교육원의 교육생에 대한 관심이 부 족했던 것이 사실이다. 즉 해양경찰교육원 교육생의 교육과정 및 교육환경에 대한 연구가 거의 없는 실정이다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 첫째, 해양경찰교육원 교육생의 교육과정에 대한 인식 분석 둘째, 해양경찰교육원 교육생의 교육기간에 대한에 대한 인식 분석 셋째, 해양경찰교 육원 교육생의 교육환경에 대한 인식을 분석하여 신임 해양경찰이 현장에 강한 해양 경찰로 양성될 수 있도록 교육과정 및 교육환경의 조성 방향을 제시하였다.
