In this study, we looked at the changing patterns of academic adaptation of multicultural teenagers and explored the precedent and consequential variables that relate academic adaptation. To adnalysis, data from the 2nd to 6th year of the Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study (MAPS) by the Korea Youth Policy Institute were utilized. Studies have shown that changes in academic adaptation of multicultural teenagers repeatedly show increases and decreases without consistent changes from year to year, and a model assuming secondary changes was found to be the most appropriate. In addition, the Korean language ability and achievement motivation in the fifth grade of elementary school predicted initials and rates of change in academic adaptation, and verified the condition model in which the initials and rate of change in academic adaptation affect the career barriers. Therefore, it will be necessary to strengthen learning counseling and education programs at a time when academic adaptations are decreasing, and to intervene in the Korean language skills and achievement motivations and career barriers for students with low academic adaptations.

본 연구에서는 다문화 청소년들의 학업적응의 변화 양상을 살펴보고, 학업적응에 영향을 미치는 선행변인(한국어 능력, 성취동기)과 결과변인(진로장벽)의 관련성을 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책 연구원의 다문화 청소년 패널연구(Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study: MAPS) 2차연도에서부터 6차연도까지 1,247명의 자료를 활용하였다. 연구결과, 다문화 청소년들의 학업적응 변화는 연도별로 일관된 변화 없이 증가와 감소를 반복적으로 보여주는 것으로 나타났으며 무변화, 선형변화, 이차변화를 가정한 모형 중 이차변화를 가정한 모형이 학업적응의 변화를 가장 적합하게 설명하였다. 또한 초등학교 5학년 시점의 한국어 능력과 성취동기가 학업적응의 초기치와 변화율을 예측하고, 학업적응의 초기치와 변화율이 다시 중학교 3학년 학생들의 진로장벽에 영향을 미치는 조건모형을 검증한 결과 연구에서 가정한 조건모형은 다문화 청소년들의 자료를 적합하게 설명하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 시기별로 다문화 청소년들의 학업적응 양상을 파악해 학업적응이 감소하는 시점에서의 학습상담 및 교육 프로그램들을 강화할 필요가 있으며, 한국어 능력, 성취동기를 높이기 위한 개입과 학업적응이 낮은 학생들을 대상으로 한 진로장벽에 대한 개입이 필요할 것이다.
