The Moderating Effects of Employability on the Influence of Workplace Learning Perceived by Hotel Cuisine Employees on Career Commitment

The aim of this study was to test the effect of workplace learning perceived by hotel cuisine employees on career commitment, and moderating effect of employability in the above causal relationship. The findings of this study are as follows. First, this study conducted a multi-variate regression analysis to examine the effect of workplace learning on career commitment, and found that both of the three sub-variables of workplace learning of formal, informal learning and incidental learning significant and positive (+) effects on career commitment. Second, as the result of verifying the moderating effect of employability in the relationship between workplace learning on career commitment, it was found that employability had effect of moderator. The result from the analysis provides practical implications for workplace learning for hotel cuisine employees. Therefore, hotel enterprises should design an appropriate workplace learning model when establishing the workplace learning system in order to increase individual and career commitments through workplace learning. Moreover, the supports, which enable workers to develop their own competence and professionality at the workplace, should be provided through internal educations and trainings, participation of external educations and trainings opportunities using the employment insurance fund, arranging the classes in outside institutions by contract and the night college courses.
