Numerous policies have been proposed to eradicate the ongoing prostitution in our society. However, prostitution still continues to happen around us. According to the survey on sex trafficking by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, 5 out of 10 men experienced sex trafficking and the average number of sex trafficking per person was 8.46 times. Prostitution experience in 2 years was 25.7%. Can prostitution be eradicated? In order to find the answer to this question, this study looked at the process of continuing prostitution around adult males. Interviews were conducted with men who had experience in prostitution, and four of them who had some experience with prostitution were selected as participants in this study. In-depth interviews were conducted more than twice between July and August, and the duration was about 1 to 2 hours per session. The questions about interviews were based on previous research, and the participants were free to talk. The first attempts at prostitution were based on curiosity about sex, the inviting of friends, and the military. There was a somewhat positive impact on the first prostitution, which was investigated as the prostitution continued. In addition, information on sex trafficking is found in the neighboring sex trafficking shops, which are found on online sex trafficking sites. Frequent sex trafficking establishments were not identified and were surveyed as ones that could soothe loneliness and address sexual needs. The perception of women in prostitution was viewed as professional women, but no negative perception was examined. In the recognition of prostitution, all participants in the study recognized that it was illegal, but it was found that no prostitution control or punishment was performed. And prostitution is not absolutely eradicated, and the crackdown on prostitution is expected to open up more shade. On the contrary, it was found that it is desirable to make prostitution legal and manage it at the government level. Based on the results of these studies, the policy of prostitution prevention and prostitution eradication was suggested.

우리사회에서 끊임없이 발생하는 성매매를 근절하고자 수 많은 정책이 제시되고 있다. 하지만 성매매는 우리 주변에서 계속적으로 이루어지고 있다. 여성가족부의 성매매실태조사에 따르면 성매매를 경험한 성인 남성은 10명 중 5명이며 1인당 평균성매매 횟수는 8.46회로 조사되었다. 최근 1년간 성매매 경험은 25.7%로 조사되었다. 과연 성매매는 근절될 수는 없는 것일까? 이러한 질문에 답을 찾고자 본 연구는 성인남성을 중심으로 성매매가 지속화되는 과정을 살펴보았다. 성매매 경험이 있는 20명의 남성을 대상으로 면접을 진행하였으며, 이 중에서 다소 성매매 경험이 높은 4명을 본 연구의 참여자로 선정하였다. 심층면접은 7월에서 8월 사이에 2번 이상 진행하였으며, 소요 시간은 1회당 1시간에서 2시간 가량 소요되었다. 면접에 대한 질문은 선행연구를 토대로 구성되었으며 연구 참여자에게 있어서 자유롭게 이야기 할 수 있도록 하였다. 연구결과 처음으로 성매매를 시도한 것은 성에 대한 호기심과 친구의 권유 그리고 군대를 간다는 연유 등으로 조사되었다. 첫 성매매에 있어서는 다소 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤으며 이는 성매매가 지속화되어 가는 과정으로 조사되었다. 그리고 성매매에 대한 정보는 주변의 성매매 업소가 분포되어 있으며, 온라인의 성매매 사이트에서 접하는 것으로 이 역시 성매매가 지속화 되는 과정으로 조사되었다. 자주 가는 성매매 업소는 따로 정해져 있지는 않았으며 연구 참여자가 외로움을 달래고 성적인 욕구를 해소할 수 있는 업소로 조사되었다. 성매매 여성에 대한 인식은 직업적 여성으로 바라볼 뿐 부정적인 인식은 따로 조사되지 않았다. 성매매에 대한 인식에 있어서는 연구 참여자 모두가 불법이라고 인식을 하였으나, 성매매 단속이나 처벌은 이루어지지 않는다고 조사되었다. 그리고 성매매는 절대적으로 근절되지 않으며 성매매를 단속하게 되면 더 음지에서 영업을 할 것으로 보았다. 오히려 성매매를 합법화로 만들어 정부차원에서 관리를 하는 것이 바람직하다고 조사되었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 토대로 성매매 예방 및 성매매 근절 정책 등을 제시하였다.
