This article examines the issue of Japanese academic recognition of ancient immigrants from the Korean peninsula through the recently renewed (2019) exhibition of Old- and Prehistory at the National Museum of Japanese History. In the exhibition, ancient Korean-Japanese relations are interpreted as cultural diffusion between the Korean peninsula and the Japanese archipelago, and lack to accept the perspective of migrants from the Korean peninsula to Japan. The recognition presented in the museum is the result of following the views and understandings of archaeological research about the Yayoi period and the intake of historical studies on the Kofun period. In order for the National Museum of History to become a public social education venue, it is necessary to reflect the results of physical anthropology that offers further clues about ancient immigrants from the Korean Peninsula.

이 글은 최근(2019)에 리뉴얼된 국립역사박물관의 전시에서 한반도 도래인에 관한 전시 내용을 통해 일본학계의 인식문제를 고찰하는 것이다. 전시에서는 고대의 한일관계가 한반도와 일본열도의 문화전파로 해석되어 있으며 한반도 도래인의 일본 이주를 인정하는 시점이 결여되어 있었다. 이러한 인식은 야요이 시대의 경우는 고고학계의 인식을, 고훈시대의 경우는 문헌사학계의 인식을 답습한 결과로 생각된다. 국립역사박물관이 공적 사회교육의 장으로 면모를 갖추기 위해서는 한반도 도래인의 실상을 규명할 수 있는 체질인류학의 성과도 반영할 필요가 있다.
