In contemporary neo-liberalistic economic system, individuals and society are experiencing precariousness and psychological issues. Through computers and cell phones, individuals are always connected to the Internet, sending information and communicating with each other. However, more people are experiencing loneliness, depression or panic. Cognitive workers have to interpret endless information in order to create value in the network in which their labor is fragmented, recombined and unstable as a result of the network's mechanism to maximize efficiency. As the individual mind develops into a collective mind through a digital network, this psychopathic syndrome such as instability, depression and panic spreads to social phenomena. According to Franco Bifo Berardi, semiocapitalism is the term to represent a phenomena that non-material signs produce capitalist wealth by abstractly symbolizing the production and exchange of things through cognitive workers connected to the digital networks in neo-libearlistic financial capitalism. Berardi analyzes that semiocapitalism is crystalized in contemporary Korean society. In a semiocapitalist Korean society, journalists are cognitive workers who produce wealth by creating articles continuously conneted to the network. Recently, journalists as cognitive workers have overproduced and transmitted inaccurate and biased images, languages, and signs about Cho Kuk, the former Minster of Justice, which accelerated the schizophrenic Korean society. By utilizing Berardi’s theory, this paper interprets the recent media coverages and social division as a semio capitalist psychopathic phenomenon. This paper asks, “What is semiocapitalism and what interpretation can semiocapitalism offer to the recent psychopathological syndrome in Korean society?” This will analyze the psychopathology of the Korean media and society from the semiocapalist perspective. In order to cure semiocapitalist psychopathology in Korean society, this paper offers a Christian alternative of “solidarity of churches with sensibility” based on Berardi’s ideas.

효율과 경쟁을 지상과제로 여기는 오늘날의 신자유주의적 경제체제에서 개인과 사 회는 불안정해지고 정신병리현상속에 빠지게 된다. 개인들은 항상 컴퓨터나 휴대폰을 통헤 인터넷에 접속되어 정보를 송수신하며 의사소통을 하지만, 점점 더 외로움과 우 울증이나 공황을 경험하는 경우가 늘어난다. 무한 경쟁에서의 생존을 위해 항상 네트 워크에 접속되어 끝임없이 생산되는 정보를 해석하고 가치를 창출해야만 하는 인지 노동자들은 효율성을 극대화시키기 위한 네트워크의 매커니즘에 의해 노동의 파편화 와 불안정을 경험한다. 불안정한 개인의 정신이 디지털 네트워크를 통해 집단 정신으 로 발전하면서, 이러한 불안정, 우울증, 공황과 같은 정신병리현상은 사회 현상으로 확산된다. 프랑코 비포 베라르디에 따르면, 기호자본주의는 현대 자본주의 시스템이 산업자본 주의에서 신자유주의적 금융자본주의로 이동하면서 디지털네트워크에 접속된 인지노 동자들을 통해 사물의 생산과 교환을 추상적으로 기호화함으로써 이러한 비물질적 기 호들이 자본주의적 부를 창출하고 있는 현상을 나타낼 때 사용하는 용어이다. 베라르 디는 현대 한국 사회를 기호자본주의가 첨예하게 드러난 사회로 분석한다. 기호자본 주의 한국 사회에서 기자들은 인지노동자들이며 상시 접속된 네트워크상에서 기사를 생산하여 부를 창출한다. 그런데, 최근 조국 전 장관에 대하여 기자들은 부정확하고 편향된 이미지, 언어, 기호들을 과잉생산하였고, 이는 한국의 사회 분열을 가속화하고 심화시켰다. 본 논문은 베라르디의 이론을 동원하여 최근 언론 보도 형태와 한국 사회의 분열 을 기호자본주의적 정신병리현상으로 해석한다. 본 논문은 베라르디의 “기호자본주의 는 무엇이고, 한국 사회의 사회병리적 현상에 어떠한 해석의 틀을 제공할 수 있는 가?”를 물으며, 최근 조국 장관에 대한 한국 언론과 사회적 반응을 기호자본주의적으 로 분석한다. 결론에서, 본 논문은 기호자본주의적 정신병리현상을 치유하기 위하여 ‘감수성에 근거한 교회의 연대’라는 기독교적 대안을 제시한다.
