The main topic of this chapter is the understanding of the relationship between industry structure and strategic decision-making. This chapter deals with two theoretical perspectives: Porter’s five-force framework and cognitive frame. It starts with the usefulness of Porter’s five-force frame and critics. It leads a discussion on the review of each five forces and the phenomena of converging competition in terms of each forces. Secondly, it moves to the discussion of strategic decision-making and cognitive frame. Lastly, it looks into the case of the three mobile operators on the relationship between strategic decision-makings and cognitive frame in terms of the converging competition. It can offer us the role of the cognitive frame, which can help to understand strategic decision-making, industry structure and evolution.
