In this paper, I suggest that we need contrastive studies through building parallel corpora in order to fully describe the differences of vocabularies of Korean and Japanese. And I show some researches dealing with actually built parallel corpora. I demonstrate that these researches are possible only through parallel corpora or they show that the research method of using parallel corpora is an efficient one. Furthermore, I argue that in order to expand the purview of the comparative studies of Korean and Japanese modern vocabularies and its method, we need to build not just parallel corpora for sentence alignment, but also parallel corpora for word alignment, and also we need to solve many problems including developing morphological analyzer of modern Korean.

본고는 19세기 말의 한일 어휘의 차이점을 망라하여 기술하기 위해서는 병렬코퍼스 구축 을 통한 대조연구가 필요하다는 의견을 제시한다. 실제로 구축 시도한 병렬코퍼스를 대상으 로 몇 가지 연구 사례를 소개하였다. 병렬코퍼스이기에 조사 가능한 연구이거나 효율적인 연 구방법이라고 판단하는 사례들이다. 나아가 근대 한일 어휘 대조연구 및 방법을 확장하기 위해서는 문장 단위가 아닌 단어 단 위의 병렬코퍼스 구축으로 확장해야 하며, 근대 한국어 형태소분석기 개발을 포함한 산재한 과제들을 해결해야 함을 주장한다.
