This study analyses the success factors of social innovation with the perspective of social movements. Social innovation is the uprising new concept to explain the macro social change. But, prior researches on social innovation have troubles with low consensus between arguments from multiple academic sources. Also, there are problems to generalize the success factors suggested by various researches because of their high immersion to the specific context. This study tries to provide the fundamental factors to forecast the success of social innovations with the resource mobilization theory of social movements researches. Resource mobilization theory provides the rational reasoning for the decision making of social movement participants, and the general success factors of social movements; resource mobilization, environmental opportunity structure, and framing. This study reviews the success case of social innovation named ‘Ruby city Matue project’ with the explanation utilizing resource mobilization perspective, and finds the empirical applicants of general success factors on the specific case of social innovation. The result of study can provide the theoretical frame to analyse the case of social innovation, and suggest the practical conditions to achieve the project of social change.

이 연구는 사회운동의 관점을 활용하여 사회혁신이 성공할 수 있는 요인들에 대해 분석한 다. 사회혁신은 사회변화를 분석하는 새로운 개념으로 근래에 많은 학문분야에서 관심이 높아지고 있다. 반면 사회혁신에 대한 기존 연구들은 그 분야의 다양성으로 인해 연구간 합의성이 낮으며, 개별 성공 사례의 문맥적 특성에 몰입된 분석으로 일반화된 성공요인을 제시하기 어렵다는 단점이 있다. 이 연구는 사회운동분야의 주요한 기반 이론인 자원조달 이론을 활용하여, 사회혁신의 성공가능성을 예측할 수 있는 구조적 기반 요인들을 제시하 고자 한다. 자원조달이론은 사회운동이 성공할 수 있는 구조적 기반 요인들로 자원조달 체계의 마련, 외부 환경의 기회, 프레이밍의 수립 등을 제안하며, 이러한 요인들은 시민참 여를 근간으로 하는 사회혁신의 성공 요인으로도 활용될 수 있을 것이다. 이러한 이론적 틀을 검증하기 위하여, 이 연구는 일본 마츠에시의 지역개발 프로젝트가 성공적으로 정착 될 수 있었던 원인을 앞서 제시한 세 가지의 성공요인을 통해 분석하였다. 이 연구의 결과는 사회혁신을 분석하기 위한 기반 이론을 발전시키는 데에 기여하며, 동시에 사회혁 신을 기획하는 기업이나 사회단체가 이를 성공으로 이끌 수 있는 사전적 준비 조건들을 제시할 수 있을 것이다.
