Appropriate Technology has evolved these days from supplier-oriented to both demand-oriented and market-oriented. Thus, the development and diffusion of appropriate technologies based upon consumer’s needs have been required. This trend has gradually been growing today. This research, in order to coming at the appropriate technologies of demand-centered and market-oriented, aims to discover satisfaction factors recognized by recipients with regard to empirical study. Moreover, from among these factors recognized by recipients this study aims to investigate empirically moderating effect related to the relation between the appropriate technologies of local accordance and satisfaction factors. To achieve the purpose of study, seven hypothesis were set up; this study conducted empirical analysis by implementing hierarchical regression analysis throughout a survey targeting 130 recipients in Nepal and Bangladesh. Pertaining to analysis result, both effectiveness and local accordance of the appropriate technologies have a positive impact on satisfaction of recipients; local accordance moderate between effectiveness and the satisfaction of recipients. This research findings can identify the possibility of both demand-oriented and market-oriented appropriate technologies. Furthermore, the findings referred to the possibility of market access for BOP(Bottom of Pyramid) through a development and a design based upon user needs. In this case, the appropriate technologies pursuing the social value can be combined with economic objective to enter new markets and to become a model of sustainability transition innovation.

최근 적정기술은 공급자 중심에서 수요와 시장중심으로 진화하고 있으며, 이에 따라 수요자 니즈에 기반 한 적정기술의 개발·확산의 필요성이 점차 증대되고 있다. 본 연구는 적정기술의 수요와 시장 중심적 접근을 위하여 수혜자가 인식하는 만족요인에 관한 실증연구와 그 요인들 중 적정기술의 현지조화성이 만족에 미치는 조절효과를 실증적으로 규명하는데 목적이 있다. 이러한 연구 목적을 달성하기 위하여 7개의 가설을 설정하여, 네팔, 방글라데시 현지 수혜자 130명을 대상으로 설문조사를 통해 위계적 회귀분석을 이용한 실증분석을 수행하였다. 분석결과, 적정기술의 효과성과 현지조화성이 수혜자의 만족에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 실증하였으며, 현지조화성은 효과성과 수혜자 만족도간의 관계를 정(+)의 방향으로 조절하는 것을 규명하였다. 본 연구결과는 수요와 시장 중심적 적정기술의 가능성을 확인하여 주며, 사용자 니즈 기반의 설계·개발을 통하여 적정기술이 BOP 시장진입이 가능할 수 있음을 시사한다. 이 경우 사회적 가치를 추구하는 적정기술이 경제적 목적과 결합하여 새로운 시장개척과 지속가능 전환혁신의 모델이 될 수 있음을 보여주는 결과라 할 수 있다.
