The purpose of this study is to empirically investigate the effects of population changes on regional economy due to changes in population, human capital with technology, and non-working(ageing) population by using regional statistical data of the National Statistical Office and the Bank of Korea from 2003 to 2016. As a result, the increased number of labor due to the increase of population decreased the production, consumption and capital steady-state of the metropolitan city and province, but the rate of convergence was rather increased. That is, growth of region was not achieved only by the growth of population. In addition, the increase of effective labor drove relatively decreasing tendency of capital and human capital along with consumption divergence in metropolitan city but province not. The growth of capital and golden rule of consumption due to increase of effective labor drove convergence in province. Finally, the increase of the non-working population, aging population, decreased capital, production and consumption of both metropolitan city and province, however, which resulted in an increase in technical progress. Therefore, with applying growth model to different regions, this study showed empirical results of the changes of population factors on change of regional economic factors.

본 연구는 2003년~2016년 통계청 및 한국은행의 지역통계자료를 사용하여 인구변화로 인한 노동자 증감, 기술력을 갖은 인적자본의 증감, 고령인에 대한 비노동인구의 증감이 지역에 미치는 영향을 시부와 도부로 구분하여 실증적으로 분석하는 것을 연구의 목적으로 한다. 분석결과 인구 증가로 인한 노동자 증가는 시부와 도부의 생산, 소비, 자본의 균형을 감소시키지만 균형점으로의 수렴속도는 오히려 증대시키는 것으로 나타났으며, 인구 감소로 인한 노동자 감소는 자본, 생산, 소비의 균형 증대에 반해 수렴속도는 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 인적자본의 확충을 고려하기 위한 기술력을 갖은 노동력의 증가는 효율적인 노동력 확충으로 도부의 자본과 인적자본의 증가하고 소비의 수렴이 이루어지지만, 효율적인 노동력 감소는 시부보다는 도부의 자본 및 인적자본 감소로 도부의 지역경제가 악화되는 결과를 나타냈다. 끝으로, 고령인구 증가를 통한 비노동인구의 증가는 시부와 도부의 자본, 생산, 소비의 균제상태가 모두 감소하였으며, 이로 인해 생산성은 반대로 증가하는 것으로 나타나 지역성장을 위한 생산성의 기여분이 증가하는 것으로 분석되었다. 따라서, 본 연구는 인구구성 요인의 증감 변화에 따른 지역경제요인의 변화를 성장모형을 활용하여 지역단위로 제공함으로써 인구변화의 실증적인 결과를 제시하였다.
