In commemoration of the special exhibition of the donation of Geomyeo, Yu Huikang, this paper discussed his calligraphy life and the Oriental art spirit that flows through his works. Yu Huikang was a representative artist among Korean calligraphers, connection the former and modern times, and he pioneered the art world of "calligraphy with left hand" with an indomitable spirit even in the midst of an hemiplegia situation, a deadly disaster for a calligrapher. The order of the writings was first summarized in the life of Yu Hui-kang, and secondly, the representative work of the Yu Huikang, discussed the of calligraphy that passed through 200 years, and finally compared of the works of Yu Huikang and Qi Baishi to discuss the soul and spirit of traditional Oriental art. They are each artists representing Korea and China, and lived in a dynamic era connecting the pre-modern and modern of each country.

이글은 검여(劍如) 유희강(柳熙綱)의 기증 특별전, <劍舞, Black Wave>를 기념하여 그의 서예 인생과 그의 작품을 흐르는 동양의 예술 혼(魂)을 논하였다. 유희강은 전근대와 근대, 현대를 이은 한국 서단의 대표적 작가였으며, 서예가로서는 치명적인 재앙이었던 반신불수의 상황에서도 불굴의 정신으로 ‘좌수서예’라는 예술 세계를 개척하여 예술인의 귀감이 되고 있다. 글의 순서는 먼저 유희강의 생애를 간략하게 정리하고, 두 번째로 유희강의 대표작이라고 할 수 있는 <관서악부>를 통해 200년 세월을 관통한 한국 서예의 흥(興)을 논한 후, 끝으로 전근대와 근대, 현대를 잇는 역동의 시대를 살아냈으며, 각각 한국과 중국을 대표하는 전통 서화 예술가로 자리매김한 유희강과 치바이스(斉白石)의 작품 세계를 비교한다. 이로써 현대로 이어진 동양 전통 예술의 혼(魂)과 사의(寫意)를 논한다.
