The results of analyzing the color usage characteristics of collective dwellings in German Hansaviertel showed the following color usage characteristics. First, the three primary colors were the most preferred in color choice, and the heavy weight of architecture was shifted by color. Second, the elements of architecture and the way of building were clearly exposed outside by the difference of various colors and colors. Third, the method of introducing the whole color uniformly without the division of the shape into the achromatic color or the achromatic color, and substituting the coloring is used. Fourth, a natural pattern was formed by the boundary line structured by the boundary line of the finishing material and the material module. In this way, the color usage style of German Hansaviertel character set housing which clearly embodies the point of view of color in the context of functionalism architecture is considered as a clear system of architectural color which is reasonable for mass production of popular houses. This can be regarded as an important system with a historical meaning that newly recognizes the value of color in a collective house, also it can be seen as a color usage system of a residential building based on functionalism.

1950년대 중반에 조성된 베를린의 한자 주거단지는 대중을 위한 주거건축의 보급과 주택의 대량생산을 위한 실험적 계획개념을 지닌 단지로서, 역사적 의미에서 집합주거의 중요한 관점을 제시하고 있다. 따라서 한자지역에 조성된 17개의 집합주거를 대상으로 색채사용특징을 추출하였다. 연구결과 삼원색을 중심으로 입면의 단조로움을 해소하고 육중한 건축구조를 전환시켜 형태적 조형성을강조하는 기법이 가방 많이 사용되고 있었다. 둘째 건축이 구축요소와 구성요소들을 색에 의해 명확히 구분하여 적용함으로서 건축의 순수한 형식을 드러내는 색채사용방식이 나타나고 있었다. 셋째, 무채색에 가까운 단일색채라도 거주자의 시점에서 지각되는 부분에 다양한 색채들이 도입되고 있었다. 넷째, 마감재의 경계나 재료의 모듈에 의해 자연스럽게 구조화된 패턴이 나타나고 있었다. 이와같이 기능주의 건축의 맥락과 함께 색채의 관점을 명확하게 구현하고 있는 한자 집합주거의 색채사용방식은 합리적이고 대중주의적 주택양산에 부합되는 건축 색채의 명확한 체계를 제시하고 있는것으로 생각된다.
