The purpose of this paper is to explore the educational perspectives regarding academic excellence in the system of curriculum and instruction, including the role of the teachers and accountability issues from the social communities. To this end, academic excellence has been dealt with in accordance with social needs and curriculum alignment. For curriculum development, considerations for how to organize has been treated along with the elements of effective instruction. Finally, educational requirement focusing on the role of teachers has been discussed, and the remedial suggestions for instructional progress has been made. Education as a useful means to transform learners’ mind is one of the key roles necessary for the realization of better future, and it is the teachers who are at the center of the role performance.

학습자 모두의 요구를 반영하는 교육의 실현은 교육관계자들의 커다란 책임이면서 권한일 수도 있다. 교육은 사회에 기여할 수 있 는 성숙한 시민으로 학습자들을 길러낼 수 있는 고품질의 교육과정 을 갖추어 학문적 수월성을 사회적으로 구현하여야 한다. 이를 위 해 교육의 주체인 교사의 역할수행과 적극적 참여가 요구된다. 사 회변화의 흐름과 발맞추지 못하는 교육은 의도된 성과를 기대할 수 없으며 다양한 문제점을 양산할 수 있다. 교육과정은 교육목표의 달성을 이뤄내는 주요 수단으로서, 교육 성과의 폭과 범위를 결정하는 가이드라인이 된다. 교육과정 설계에 서 하향식 방법이 효율적인 경우가 많으며, 수직적 연결 및 수평적 조화 또한 중요하게 다루어야 한다. 교육과정의 수행자로서 교사는 학습자의 요구에 대응하는 의사결 정에 전문성을 갖춰야 하며, 교육성과에 대한 책임감 또한 높아야 한다. 교육과정과 수업의 진행, 학습자 요구의 수용은 다양한 질문 과 창의적 대안을 통해 심도 있게 검토해야 하는 사안이다. 교사의 역할은 지식의 전달에 그치지 말아야 하며 사회적 모범시민의 사례 로서, 존중받을 수 있는 인문적 삶의 본보기로서의 역할 또한 중요 한 부분이 될 것이다.
