This paper examines the current status of contents utilizing Jeongseon Arirang and seeks the direction for Jeongseon Arirang as a local cultural contents. In particular, attention was paid to performance contents that have continued in various forms. First of all, I looked into the aspects of the newly created contents of Jeongseon Arirang in the form of performances, videos, festivals, tourism, and etc. The contents of the performance were created in various forms such as theatrical, Chang-geuk, musical, puppet theater, and Nanta performances. From early on, the contents of the performance were well supported by the government agencies and the private organizations. However, apart from the variety of forms, the narrative for the performance did not change much from the initial performance to the present. The narrative was mainly based on the love story of young men and women intertwined Auraji, and Goryeo vassal. And it is an advantage that the lyrics of Jeong Sun Arirang are used in the right place, but this also shows that some lyrics are used repeatedly. In fact, the absence of narrative is a problem that appears not only in performances but also in other contents utilizing Jungseon Arirang. This suggests that new storytelling is needed for the expansion and development of the cultural contents. Then I suggested that the direction of the universality should be pursued in terms of values and themes, while maintaining the specificity of the region by using Jeongseon Arirang on the material level. Among the numerous lyrics of Jeongseon Arirang, if we find a motif or value that can sound to people living in modern times as a basis for developing new contents, Jeongseon Arirang can be newly established as a cultural prototype of the world beyond the region.

본고는 정선아리랑을 활용한 콘텐츠의 현황을 점검하고, 지역문화콘텐츠로서 정 선아리랑이 나아갈 방향을 제안한 것이다. 특히 매년 다양한 형태로 지속되고 있는 공연콘텐츠에 주목했다. 우선 정선아리랑을 원형으로 새롭게 창조한 콘텐츠의 양상을 공연, 영상, 축제, 관광, 기타로 나누어 살펴보았다. 이중 공연 콘텐츠는 연극, 창극, 뮤지컬, 인형극, 난타 공연 등 다양한 형식으로 창작되었으며, 일찍부터 정선군청을 비롯한 정부기 관의 지원과 민간단체의 협업이 잘 이루어진 사례로 볼 수 있었다. 그러나 형식의 다양성과는 별개로 공연을 위한 서사는 최초 공연에서부터 지금 에 이르기까지 큰 변화가 없음을 확인할 수 있었다. 주로 고려 유신 거칠현과 아우 라지에 얽힌 젊은 남녀의 사랑 이야기를 바탕으로 서사가 짜여졌으며, 정선아리랑 의 가사가 적재적소에 활용된 것은 장점이지만 이 또한 일부 가사만이 반복적으로 쓰이는 경향을 보였다. 이는 필연적으로 새로운 스토리텔링을 요청하게 되었던 바, 그것이 성공적으로 이루어진 사례로 뮤지컬 ｢아리아라리｣를 분석하였다. 사실 서사의 부재는 공연뿐만 아니라 정선아리랑을 활용한 여타의 콘텐츠에서도 동일하게 나타나는 문제점이라고 할 수 있다. 이는 앞으로 정선아리랑 콘텐츠의 확 장 및 발전을 위해서는 참신하고 새로운 스토리텔링이 필요함을 시사해준다. 이때 그 방향은 소재적 차원에서 정선아리랑을 활용해 지역의 특수성을 유지하면서도, 가치나 주제의 측면에서 문화원형의 보편성을 추구해야 함을 제안하였다. 정선아리 랑의 수많은 가사 가운데 현대를 살아가는 사람들에게도 울림을 줄 수 있는 모티프 나 가치를 찾아 새로운 콘텐츠 개발을 위한 밑거름으로 삼는다면, 정선아리랑은 지 역을 넘어선 세계의 문화 원형으로 새롭게 자리매김할 수 있을 것이다.
