This study was fulfilled to verify the dead years of 5 Korean firs (Abies koreana E.H. Wilson) located at Imgellyeong in Jirisan National Park. We applied the dendrochronological method to date their dead years. Two of five Korean firs were fallen trees (FD) and the others were standing trees (SD). By the tree-ring analysis method, i.e. crossdating in dendrochronology, it was verified that two FDs were dead between late autumn in 2011 and early spring in 2012. In the case of SDs, however, only two SDs were successfully verified that one was dead between late summer and autumn in 2006 and the other one between late summer and autumn in 2008. For the study on finding a reason inducing them to be dead the fundamental data about the death years should be established.

지리산국립공원 임걸령에서 고사한 구상나무 5본에 대하여 정확한 고사연도를 확인하고자 본 연구를 수행 하였다. 고사연도 조사는 연륜분석법으로 실시하였다. 고사한 구상나무 5본 중 2본은 쓰러져 뿌리가 노출된 상태 (FD)였으며, 3본은 서 있는 상태(SD)였다. 연륜분석법(크로스 데이팅)으로 FD 2본의 고사한 연도를 확인한 결과 2011년 늦가을부터 2012년 봄 사이였다. SD는 3본 중 2본이 고사연도 분석에 성공하였으며, 고사한 때는 2006년 과 2008년 늦여름에서 가을 사이었다. 정확한 고사원인 분석을 위해서는 고사연도에 대한 기초자료를 마련해야 할 것이다.
