The Mythologiques(4 Vol.), a marvelous masterpiece written by the well-known Belgian-French Anthropo- logist Claude Lévi-Strauss(1908~2009), belongs to one of the most important contribution to cultural insights of the last century, which is not at all inferior to the contemporary conception of Cultural Semiotics. In this paper, I’d like to organize these ideas, which are scattered in his works, into a semiotic observation: for that purpose, we need three main dimensions as follows: ‘structuralist methodology’, ‘taboo’, and ‘communication system’. Based on these prototypical concepts, a Culinary Systematics will be discussed: the relations between subjects(donor) and objects(recipient), the food as value- system: Thus, we conclude, that the Ars Culinarica (Food as Art) is a Semiosis itself in our everyday Life.

구조인류학의 비조 레비-스트로스(C. Lévi-Strauss, 1908~ 2009)가 남긴 필생의 대작 『신화학』(神話學: Mythologi- ques, 전 4권)에 담긴 통찰은 음식기호학의 현대적인 구상에 비추어도 손색없는 시사적인 의제와 무궁무진한 사례를 담고 있다. 본고에서는 이 고전에 산재된 착상을 ‘구조주의 방법론’, ‘금기’ 및 ‘소통체계’의 원근법으로 조 명하여, 시각은 물론 청각과 후각, 미각과 촉각에 이르기까지 오감의 요소를 공감각(共感覺)적으로 투영한 음식예술(Ars Culinarica)의 원 형을 살펴보고자 한다.
