The Relationship of Parent-Child Communication, Loneliness and Interpersonal Problems on Adolescents' Smartphone Addiction

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship of parent-child communication, loneliness and interpersonal problems on adolescents smartphone addiction. The subjects of the study were 342 adolescents who were selected from 1~3 grade of high school. The collected data was analyzed using the SPSS 23.0 program. Depending on the research problem, frequency, Cronbach's α, Pearson's corrlation coefficients, multiple regression were used. The results of this study were as follows: First, Father-child communication, mother-child communication all showed negative correlation with smartphone addiction. Loneliness and smartphone addiction have a positive correlation, interpersonal problems and smartphone addiction have a positive correlation. Second, father-child communication has indirect effect on adolescent's smartphone addiction through loneliness and interpersonal problems. On the other hand, mother-child communication was indirectly influenced by loneliness and interpersonal problems, and was directly influenced too. Third, in the relationship between father-child communication and adolescent's smartphone addiction, the dual mediating effect of loneliness and interpersonal problem appeared. also mother-child communication and adolescent's smartphone addiction, the dual mediating effect of loneliness and interpersonal problem appeared too. This study helped the adolescents to understand smartphone addiction and provided specific information to prevent and mitigate them.
