The Manchurians were undoubtedly the acknowledged dominant ruling class during the Qing Dynasty (China). Based on such circumstances, they mainly concentrated on solidifying their incumbent position in terms of its relations with other neighboring countries. Among the countries, the Joseon Dynasty (Korea) was one of the countries where the Qing Dynasty(China) had to maintain strong diplomatic ties. It is against this background that this paper looks into just how much the Joseon Dynasty acknowledged and accepted the Manchurians as the dominant party in terms of its relationship with China. Incidentally, the focus of this paper is to take a closer look at the contents related to the Manchurian language which was the language of the Qing Dynasty amongst the influx of the Qing culture during the Joseon Dynasty. Through the existing literature, we are able to see that the Manchurian language was taught and learned according to the national policy. In addition, it is worth noticing that the demand for the Manchurian language increased during the period where the Cheonghak (the study of interpretation of Manchu Language) textbooks were created and published. It is also salient to note that while the Manchurian language learning was forced upon the ethnic Korean people within China during the Qing Dynasty under the implementation of the language policy, a voluntary movement of learning the Manchurian language amongst a small number of interpreters in the Joseon era to meet national demand materialized during this period.

청조는 이민족인 만주족이 지배층의 우위를 차지함으로써 여러 가지 달라진 국면에 직면했다. 조선 등 주변국들도 이민족이라고 여겨왔던 만주족과의 관계에 있어서도 현실성을 거부할 수 없는 입지였다. 조선 에서의 淸語는 그러한 현실적인 수용에 맞춰 반드시 배워야만 하는 언 어일 수밖에 없었다. 대청 관계 설정에 있어서 여러 가지 문물의 수용 도 굉장히 중요한 의미를 갖는다. 그러한 문물 수용의 교류에 있어서 수단이 되었던 언어는 배우지 않으면 안 될 만큼의 입지를 가지고 있었 다. 다만, 통역에 대한 부분에 있어 중인 계급으로 치부하고 중요치 않 게 여겼던 당시의 풍조도 주의를 기울만하다.
